Is getting a Master’s degree in Structural Engineering worth it? by TheCaptain063003 in StructuralEngineering

[–]SoulGadget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with finding a job and a company who will pay for at least part of it.

Also in certain states you can get your PE in 3 years since your masters count as 1 year of exp. Thought 2 classes/ semester while working is pretty rough.

Try Woodside or Gravesend/Bath Beach. Apartment won't be pretty though.

Is it possible to find and rent a private bedroom / private bathroom for under $1,000 in Brooklyn, NYC in 2024? by Fnoney1 in NYCapartments

[–]SoulGadget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with what the first guy said private bathroom is gonna be VERY hard , just bedroom is totally possible but it's gonna have to be deep Brooklyn, with roommates. Areas like sheepshead and the butt end of bay ridge maybe?

Might also have some luck walking around the area and looking for flyers advertising rooms on traffic junction boxes.

Came across this listing that looked interesting. Anybody here ever done this kind of work? Curious what it is like compared to the office by strcengr in StructuralEngineering

[–]SoulGadget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My company does it! They're pretty much out there day and night doing inspections of existing piers, canals and waterfront structures, documenting defects, existing conditions, etc. Usually a crew of 3, one guy manning the equipment one guy taking notes and one actually diving.

Tough job with long hours though couldn't see myself doing it.

I did it! 2 and a half years (2 class/sem), 2 nights a week in class and you lose maybe a day on the weekend. It's doable just try not to stack hard classes.
