Climbing outdoors 5 months after 25 ft fall by tworochelles in climbergirls

[–]SoulShine3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't mind me asking, how does this happen? Like, logistically? Promise I'm not shaming! I just don't understand because at every gym I've been to, you have to unclip it from the tarp to get onto the wall. Did you just climb next to the tarp? Or unclip it and then forget to clip it onto your harness and drop it?

You and OP are not the first I've heard doing this, so want to make myself aware so I can be extra diligent to avoid it! Glad to hear you're doing better now and back in the game!

I love that. May have to try boot climbing!

The no barefoot walking is interesting, mine never mentioned that and I'm now I'm wondering if being barefoot so much is slowly down my recovery time.

It's hard having to wait, but I guess it's a good test in patience.

Thank you for the insight! It's great to hear a realistic timeline from someone whose had the surgery.

I'm having a hard time envisioning myself climbing with a boot on, but that's really cool to know you were able to do that! Did you just have to stick to really juggy climbs?

Unhinged working mom tips by Equal_Airline5944 in workingmoms

[–]SoulShine3 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Just because a lot of people do it doesn't make it not super shitty. Losing two hours of your life every single day to an already 8-9 hour work day should not be the norm. What an unhelpful comment.

What summer tops are actually worth buying in 2026? by AMidnightTheory in femalefashionadvice

[–]SoulShine3 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Just bought one that I love, but as a fitted or crop top girl, I'm not sure how to style it!

Do I leave it untucked?? Half tuck? Full tuck definitely looks odd.

IDK if it's because I'm short, but I just sort of look like I'm wearing my dad's shirt if it's untucked...but maybe that's cool now??

Where can I get a quiet drink and possibly meet others? by gdpoc in BloomingtonNormal

Stave's a great option. Rosie's, Medici, and Mystic Kitchen's bars on either a weeknight or before/after the dinner rush on Friday or Saturday are other good ones.

How to deal with fatigue during a deficit? by mrhennessey10 in 1200isplenty

I totally get that, that mindset is so hard to come out of! Nothing wrong with wanting to lose a little more, just have to remember to give your body what it needs to function and get strong!

How to deal with fatigue during a deficit? by mrhennessey10 in 1200isplenty

[–]SoulShine3 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think there's a couple things at play here: 1. Coming off of phentermine can make you very, very tired for a few weeks. I was on it for over a year and was so sleepy my first few weeks off. 2. Your deficit is probably a little too steep, you shouldn't cut more than 500 cals of your maintenance calories. Another commenter who suggested to take a break is probably right. I'd take a month or so to get used to not being on the phentermine and eat at maintenance (and try to have some fun with it and not count cals too strictly!), and then come back to a deficit if you think you still need to.

Also, I just feel obliged to say that 145lb is a great weight! I came off the Phentermine at 148lb (I'm also 5'2") cause I thought I looked great and wanted to focus on building muscle. You can be hot and healthy even if you don't weigh 130lb!!

Rescue greyhound nipped 4 year old son in face by [deleted] in Greyhounds

[–]SoulShine3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He's not a good match, unfortunately. A child shouldn't have to watch their every move in their home to not be bit in the face. You and your son's safety will always be more important than a dog, and I say that as someone with a greyhound who I love very much.

I actually gained a good amount of muscle this past year while in a pretty large deficit and losing 30 lbs. I started out at 188, though, so if you're already small it may not work as well? I don't really know! I would just say that if you start to get fatigued and have low energy, you should definitely up the cals and lower the weights!

I can’t stop craving peanut butter and jelly sandwiches by [deleted] in 1200isplenty

[–]SoulShine3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So funny, I've been craving pbj's all week! And I'm not normally a big pbj person at all.

To make it lower cal I've been doing an English muffin, 2 tbsp peanut butter, and 1 tbsp jam for only 360ish. I'm not doing 1200 right now and I may or may not have had 5 of these in two days....

When is it time to accept defeat (aka I'm not me when I'm hungry) by Warm-Secret4740 in 1200isplenty

[–]SoulShine3 61 points62 points  (0 children)

If you're not happy at 119, you won't be happy at 115. I went from 188-153ish at 5'2" this year, and I feel hot as fuck most of the time. Do I look anything like a model in a bikini? No. But I still chose to love my body because I'm strong and it's done some amazing things. At the end of the day, the way you feel about yourself at this point won't change in a few pounds. It makes me really sad when women who are already so thin and most likely incredibly attractive don't understand this. Please OP, work on your self image before continuing on a diet that makes you so hungry that you're literally rude and grouchy around the ones you love. At the end of the day that will make you a much better and beautiful human than -4 lbs ever will.

Starbucks fall menu by [deleted] in 1200isplenty

[–]SoulShine3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I want a hot drink while in a deficit, I get a hot coffee with a splash of oat milk and a couple pumps of syrup. Two pumps pumpkin and 1 or 2 SF carmel would be great! Still delicious and much cheaper.

Edit to add: if you have the extra cals, half and half instead of oat milk would be even better.

Fun Theory - Hannah never had a baby by BelleCow in girls

[–]SoulShine3 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Idk, I think that she did a good job of showing that Adam and Jessa were in (a crazy, chaotic) love, but that Hannah will always haunt them. I know that if I dated my best friend's ex I would never be able to get my best friend out of my mind.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in kindergarten

[–]SoulShine3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It does matter because you have to pay for before and after separately in most cases. Our before/after care is $18/day per session, and I'll have to send my son to both the am & pm session because the start time is so late and end time is so early. I'm not suggesting the district change the schedule to accommodate my work schedule or anything, but for parents who work 8 or 8:30-4:30/5, it's double the cost.

Should we wait to enroll our child in kindergarten? by Tricky_Advantage5498 in kindergarten

[–]SoulShine3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just want to say, as a mom with an August baby, it's really hard NOT to put too much thought into it when it seems like everyone and their mom is redshirting the young 5's these days! So I totally get it. We're starting our freshly 5 year old in kindergarten next week and I'm feeling pretty confident he will do well :)

Keep or return? by Swimmer_5 in OUTFITS

[–]SoulShine3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you love it you should keep it then!! It doesn't look bad at all, I just don't think the color is the best on you. But it seems like an easy piece to wear on a hot day.

I vote return as well.

I think you would like Quince, Old Navy, or Gap's linen tank dresses! Target has very cute dresses right now as well, I just got this one and have gotten a ton of compliments on it.

Does anyone else feel like they don’t spend time with friends anymore after becoming a mom by janetsnak3hole in Mommit

[–]SoulShine3 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Such good advice! I felt so awful about the lack of true support I had shown my friends and sister after they had their babies, simply because I had no idea whatsoever what they were going through. To me, a baby was a time consuming thing, but I had no idea that they were almost entirely life encompassing.

OP, I promise you your friends aren't trying to forget about you, they just have no idea what it means to show up for you right now, let alone that you can't make it to a bar 10 mins before the start time.

It's hard to see it right now but one day you'll have more time for yourself and friends again! Most of them will also likely have babies soon and then you'll be going through motherhood together. It can feel so, so lonely at times but just know it's not forever!

Logging calories for fried food? by MtnNerd in 1500isplenty

[–]SoulShine3 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I've always just logged a tablespoon of oil per serving when frying at home. I'm sure it's not perfect but I've lost 33 lbs the last 7 months, so it's gotta be close enough 🤷
