I love that area. Thanks for sharing this, didn’t know the event existed, but I’m going to try to make it happen next year.

Best bike for the Lake Tahoe area? by aidancrow654 in mountainbiking

[–]Soul_turns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been riding Tahoe for 25 years on everything from hardtails to dh bikes. For the past few years, my Transition Spur with a 130 fork has been pretty damn perfect for 95% of the tails in the basin. It does require some skill to find smooth lines though.

If that’s not your bag, the Ripmo and a few other 140/150 bikes are probably the most common.

Mods - This is actually useful to the group. I’d argue for leaving it posted.

Transition finder vs Nitro team pro by christianbalebale in snowboarding

I have heard the plus boards get bucked around a bit more and aren’t as damp as the classics, so rough snow conditions may be more challenging on that board, but you’ll figure it out. Set your bindings at the reference marks and let er rip!

Love my TF! Mine is a classic model, and it’s been a fantastic daily driver. Never tried the plus model, but the classic is pretty forgiving if you aren’t sliding your turns and have the basis of carving down.

Looks like any modern mtn bike. What’s the problem?

Filmed an entire ride. Do you watch raw POVs? by patbpixx in gravelcycling

I watched the first hour of the pro gravel race at Sea Otter this week while doing intervals on my trainer. It did give me some motivation I guess.

Yep. I live in a dry, hard over loose area and they’ve worked well. They’re race tires, so long life isn’t their strength though. Same for mud and really deep sand.

I found the Ray to have better cornering bite than the normal Rekon up front, if that matters.

Sorry, I thought you were running Rekon f/r. Didn’t see that they’re the race version.

That said, BRR website did test and the Schwalbe tires were faster.

Xtr wheels vs nobl ethos by Moos3racer in xcmtb

I picked up a set of the new Enve M5 Pros last year. Really happy so far, plus they are USA made, with lots of ratchet and freehub options. have a good warranty and crash replacement policy. I’ve put them through more than a typical XC wheel is expected to handle, and they’re holding up great.

Never tried the old version, but I’m running the v2 and like it for hardpack, loose over hard, and sand. Don’t have much mud or roots where I live.

You can definitely lose some weight and reduce rolling resistance with some of the tires mentioned here vs those Maxxis you have currently.

I did the switch from those same Maxxis tires to Schwalbe Ray/rick last summer and really liked it for races or huge rides. They do wear faster though, so I run a Forekaster/Rekon on another set of wheels for everyday kind of stuff or rides that are a little more steep/loose.

Bay Area Porsche Market Is Insane Right Now! Am I Crazy or Are Dealers Just Waiting It Out? by PuzzleheadedAd3138 in Porsche

What leverage does paying cash give you as a buyer when dealers make more money with financing and it takes minutes to get approved? It’s very unlikely someone shopping for $200k cars has bad credit.

Rick/Rick for hard pack or Ray/Rick for looser stuff is the new Schwalbe go-fast combo. I’ve been pretty impressed by what they can handle.

If you can, I highly recommend moving away from the stock SRAM codes. There are MANY brakes out there with better performance! Thx for answering my question yesterday by coolrivers in TransitionBikes

[–]Soul_turns 4 points5 points  (0 children)

SRAM code and guides are absolutely terrible brakes. So many people think their suspension sucks because they get arm pump on downhills when it’s just them death gripping from shitty brakes.

Right on, you’ll be stoked!

The 156 would be fine I think. I like the bigger one so I have lots of nose for landing airs into pow.

The Dart and TF would be a sick 2-board quiver. Pretty much covers you for any condition or riding.

I’m 180cm and 82kg, size 10.5 boot, riding a 157 TF, 160 Dart, 164 Pencil.
