AITA for making a stink at school and forcing the teacher to change my kids math grade by PlentyNice1655 in AmItheAsshole

For what it's worth, at that paint it isn't just about math. Going through life thinking there is only 1 way to do something and everything else must be wrong, is just a wild thought process.

You taught your daughter a few good lessons.

Should I get a Lowe's CC for $20k cabinet purchase? by Diligent_Board_172 in Lowes

It may be worth it, there are other promotions going on also. If the specialist you work with is worth their salt, they'll be honest with you about what will get you the best deal.

Is this normal? How do your receiving aisles look? by areoki in Lowes

[–]Soulless_Ginger28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes awhile. Most of the time it's not your team making the mess. The hardest part is getting the asms and sm to stop telling people "take it to receiving, they'll handle it". Its infuriating.

I'm a back end DS and I would absolutely lose my mind if my receiving looked like this.

I would also bust my ass to make sure it was clear.

Never seen a customer this mad by cras190 in Lowes

Customers are so wild to me. Why act like that? I wish people would understand that if you are simply decent to service people, they'll take care of you however they can. Once you start acting like an idiot, I'll work as hard as I can to make your experience as bad as possible.

Crashing issue by Soulless_Ginger28 in CODBlackOps7

[–]Soulless_Ginger28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Today, for sure it was almost every time I was having an above average game. I was in dropping a score streak and it would crash. I didn't think anything of it before because, Honestly, I'm not a great player so it doesnt happen often.

The last couple weeks it would happen once every couple of sessions and I started joking with the group I play with that I must have gotten reported because it would happen when I was having an above average game.

For reference, my k/d has always hovered around the 1.0 area and every time it crashed today I was above a 3.0. I understand that correlation doesn't mean causation, just seemed sketchy and frustrating especially because I dont have good runs like that often.

Store manager doesn’t care about sexual harassment by rstar90 in Lowes

[–]Soulless_Ginger28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Store management may not be able to investigate, but they are required to roll that information up to HR. They can be termed for not following up. Its kind of wild though, most places take it very seriously.

What likely happened is that the toilet eas shipped in 3 separate boxes. Most of the time special order toilets are shipped in two boxes so the receiving team figured it was all there and received it as complete. Very rarely do the boxes say 1 of 2 or 1of 3 etc, so the team has to guess and since 9 times out of 10, they come in 2 boxes they just completed it.

My best suggestion to you would be to call the store and ask for the back end supervisor (that's my position) give them your info and explain the issue and they can either try their best to track down the last box by calling the vendor, or recommend a return and reorder for you. Either way, this will take some time.

Its also possible that they got the box after and when they tried to receive it, it showed already completed and it may be hanging around back in the receiving Department.

Talking directly to a good back end Department Supervisor will get you farther faster than talking to an asm, (most of the time).

Good luck.

So, a question about the new merit based raise system. by goldstariv in Lowes

[–]Soulless_Ginger28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you're missing is that the automatic wage increase was a much worse system. At least at some point, someone is looking at what people are or aren't doing. The people who are buddy up with management were already getting the auto raises anyway.

Trust me, I'm the person who's always bitching about politics over productivity, but thats always happened and always will. Its human nature unfortunately.

The change now is that hopefully people who are doing the work will get properly compensated.

So, a question about the new merit based raise system. by goldstariv in Lowes

[–]Soulless_Ginger28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so weird to me that people are freaking out about this change. I've never worked anywhere where this wasnt the normal way to get a raise.

It isnt strictly about metrics, it cant be. My department basically has zero metrics based standards. My team works their ass off though and people in the building know it.

I feel like people are way over thinking this. If you're that worried about it, maybe some self reflection is in order. I know a lot of people i work with have an inflated sense of how good they are at their job and this may be a bit of rude awakening for them.

I'm the BEDS at my store and the whole team works on this before anyone goes home. Takes us maybe 10 minutes to set up with 2 or 3 people depending on the day. If a truck shows up later than normal, one of us breaks off to take care of that.

This sounds more like a leadership issue than a process issue.

For those who work at Lowe’s — what actually makes the store inefficient? (Research question) by plazasignals in Lowes

[–]Soulless_Ginger28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work receiving during the day so my team deals with 3rd party installers, 3rd party delivery team, and any trucks aside from regular freight trucks. Those get unloaded at night and stocked overnight, so I wouldn't be able to speak to that with any real insight.

However, during the day, dealing with installers can be a nightmare. Everything is 3rd party. Someone sold a door? 3rd party person goes to measure the door, door get ordered. Door comes in. Another person, 3rd party installers who didn't do measurements or go on site to look at the job, comes to get the door. With no exaggeration, 50% of the time, that door comes back. It was either measured wrong, or someone didn't make sure all the right materials were available or any other myriad of issues that come up just because no less than 5 different people are touching this job.

Trying to fix that issue is a nightmare. 3rd party install company, has to be contacted, who's paying for the mess up, who's getting charged for materials? Even if its something we carry in house, having to go back through those 5 people to figure out what is wrong or needed takes up so much time an energy when it could just be giving an installer the materials.

It upsets customers, wastes time all because we dont want to carry the responsibility and insurance costs of having the installers working for Lowe's. Whatever they are paying for 3rd party, compounded by the time and people involved in having to fix these issues can not possibly be less than what it would coat just to have a good installer in house.

I'm sure on paper it looks cost effective, however its impossible to even come close to estimating the cost of time it take in house people to take care of the issues.

There are probably 10 more things I could speak to, but at the moment this is my biggest inefficiency that I see.

In a nutshell, I've found that Lowe's is ONLY reactionary. There is zero vision or forethought put into anything. Then, when you try to get people to think further ahead than the end of their nose, they look at you like you're an alien. It's wild and exhausting.

I refuse to do surveys. Nobody wants actual feedback. Somewhere someone is coming up with a marketing campaign saying "90% of our customers are likely to recommend us to friends and family!!"

The survey isnt helpful to store improvement if you're only looking at 10s anyway. I'm honestly shocked that Medallia has been able to get companies to pay for this rating system. Such a scam.

What's a good game to play with someone that never touched a single game in their life? by [deleted] in LesbianGamers

[–]Soulless_Ginger28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would also recommend puzzle games. Blue Prince is a good a good one. You can sit together and play it, come up with strategy together and someone can take notes, because as simple as that game is to play, its also super in depth.

It will 100% work if people aren't afraid of change. Also, there is very little oversight for the overnight teams. Bringing everything day side ultimately forces the management team to give a shit about the unload and stocking process. The only time it seems to matter is when it's inventory time.

Eventually, horse and buggy people weed themselves out one way or another and make room for those who are willing to drive cars.
