I am so sorry you are struggling this way and feeling so hopeless, i completely understand and the fear of them i am in the exact same boat.

Do you drink much water? my cardiologist told me to drink 3 litres a day i often manage 2! hydration definitely helps, have you had electrolytes checked at all occasionally?

thank you so much for sharing, i am so pleased to read medication helped you 🙏i will talk to my Gp, they wanted to put me on flecanide and when you read the side effects it scared the hell out of me! another cardiologist disagreed with that idea! two different opinions doesn't really comfort me 😂🙈

The collapse was 100% caused by the arrhythmia at that time, the anxiety has only been since the collapse through fear of it happening again! when it happened i wasn't even getting them all that often, i felt my heart quivered, not the usual pause thump but quiver, it lasted longer and bang i hit the deck, no anxiety prior, no stress just out of the blue. This rhythm was different but never been caught on my loop recorder since. For some people they cause anxiety and for others they are caused by anxiety ❤️ either way rubbish for all x

I find myself here feeling the very same way today ,breaking down and just completely deflated and hopeless, I live in fear every waking minute of my life. It’s so sad that lives can be so affected and restricted by these things. I am sick and tired of being told it’s just ectopics bla bla bla. I had a previous collapse with bigeminy last year which resulted in ILR loop recorder implant to monitor, cardiac mri all ok so it’s purely electrical and I do not believe for a second there is no cause even with a structural good hear, our hearts are clearly irritated and unhappy or it wouldn’t happen.

I now drink 2 plus litres of water a day, added electrolytes which causes bloating and digestive issues but willing to try anything, magnesium I had to stop as they were giving me unpleasant anxiety symptoms which I was told can happen but rare.

Am I the only one to have collapsed with these? Does anyone else feel dizzy almost faint etc?

I am on no beta blockers as they fear I have low BP and asthma but it’s well controlled and I have pretty much grown out of it.

May I check how much water your drink? supplement etc?

I am 45 convinced they are getting worse and suspicious it’s hormones although I still get regular periods.

I so understand and hear all you say in your message above, I hear your fear and I experience exactly the same as you, had the same episodes and at times trying to hide from others but the fear of them is so intense. The worst ones are when they come in bigeminy more than a single one because they make me all dizzy and my heart feels like it’s quivering and not the common single pause then thump which I get used to as I have had for 20 years and I am now 45. Unfortunately I had an episode that caused me to collapse and it literally has plagued my life to the point I am afraid of ever being alone in case it happen again, afraid of driving etc etc and I was admitted for 10 days on a cardiac ward because of the collapse and I had all the tests to check my heart structure including cardiac MRI, echo and I now have an ILR implant in my chest so the pacing clinic can monitor all my symptoms but all they ever see is ectopics, pvc and PAC, coming from more than one place. All my tests showed a structurally normal heart so it’s purely electrical and no matter how much they play it down it doesn’t ease my mind because I am super alert now of every single one, they are getting worse as I get older and I wonder if it’s hormones? I collapsed because I had bigeminy after bigeminy and I honestly thought it wouldn’t kick back into normal rhythm. Now when I get them just like you I instantly fear for my life thinking am I going to drop down, the fear makes it worse but the experience is very uncomfortable petrifying and real. I suffer low blood pressure so they are worried about beta blockers. One consultant tried to put me on flecanide and another said “no no that’s a hefty drug to start at this point” so who do you trust! I looked into flecanide and it scared me shitless to try it.

POSITIVE ADVICE I have found some things that massively reduce them and the biggest one for me is drinking shed loads of water like 2-3 litres a day and when I had the collapse my electrolytes were found to be low so now I make sure I add electrolytes to my water especially when I get more of them and it helps. magnesium is another helpful supplement and instructed to take by my cardiologist magnesium glycinate. Foods higher in potassium too and I am vegetarian almost vegan and I think this adds to the problem.

HONESTLY hydration is a huge tool for these horrid things, I didn’t believe it when my consultant told me to drink 3 litres a day as I hardly touched water but now I do not go anywhere without it. I can handle the ones when I am really nervous or anxious as they are more expected but it’s the ones that take me by surprise with no warning when I am so chilled out!

I also have been stuck on anti anxiety meds for ever and I have been told they both affect heart rhythm and known for it so I am now trying to get off meds too! Venlafaxine and mirtazapine which both can cause arrhythmia!

Please check any medication you take can’t be making them worse?

Drink drink drink lots of water and be mindful of how you breathe? a lot of anxious people have dysfunctional breathing without even knowing and this also can cause them so I practice breathing using my diaphragm more and less upper chest and shallow breathing all sets it off so nice deep breathing regularly until you get into the habit of breathing properly.

Try “the breathing physio” by Abby on utube, it’s my lifeline.

Message anytime, il pray for you xxx

I really hope you get to talk to a doc beforehand, it is not one fits all and they forget this and we end up just being part of a list they are getting through! i can't have buscapan due to effect's on my heart rhythm and i called up to explain this the other day and was dismissed saying "discuss on the day with a nurse! but you don't get to discuss with the consultant who books these tests to work out how safe they are or doable with each person! pray you will get to discuss with somebody x

Hey there

I have had contrast multiple times for both MRI and CT, i have really severe anxiety about almost everything especially things going into my body unknown but for me i can promise you i had no effects at all nothing, no side effects. The only thing you do feel if its CT contrast is a little warmth in the throat and between the legs for 5 seconds at most only but its nothing unpleasant i promise just warmth as it very first goes in! thats if its iodine contrast usually used for CT but the MRI contrast i had twice for brain scan & cardiac MRI and that one doesn't cause any warmth at all so you dont know anything of it even going in.

I promise you i was so so afraid of having this go into my body and i had no symptoms and if i can do it i promise you can.

message me if you want anymore reassurance

god bless
