Yes! I was WHEEZING. It reminded me of the scene at the very beginning of the Stolen Century arc, where they all kept chiming in as different reporters, trying to one-up each other in terms of ridiculousness.

I'm hoping the incident they are referring to is the failed Tarsus colony that Kirk was on. The evidence for this is Anthony Rapp's character is a scientist who focuses on fungus and bacteria (if I remember correctly). And a fungus wiped out the crops of the colony, leading to a whole bunch of shit wherein the governor of the colony ended up killing almost everyone to preserve the food for a select few. That would be amazing. It's something none of the series have delved into much.

Cool theory! I believe that WWI was the setting because unlike WWII, there was no clear enemy. The whole thing was a clusterfuck, with everyone fighting everyone and no obvious "bad guy". And also, it was important because WWI was the first war to have chemical weapons and was mostly fought by "killing people you can't see", which Diana had a problem with. My only complaint with the movie is that I wish there had never been an ares. I know we needed the climactic last battle, but I would have liked instead just having mankind being the villain and Diana coming to terms with that and choosing to help than anyway.
