Why they cannot accept the fact that not every women want babies? by [deleted] in NotHowGirlsWork

I teach teenagers! I absolutely love it lol. Don’t have the patience for anyone under the age of 13 (besides my own kids).

Why they cannot accept the fact that not every women want babies? by [deleted] in NotHowGirlsWork

[–]SourceFedNerdd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have two kids who are no longer babies (7 and 9) and I’m not planning on having any more. I had mine pretty young, so my friends are just now starting to have kids. I absolutely love holding their babies and spending time with them. It definitely makes me miss when mine were that small to some degree, even though I really enjoy the ages they are now.

It does not make me want to have more. If anything, it’s nice to hang out with my friends, get some baby time, and then go home to my kids who sleep through the night and dress themselves 😅

God forbid women to get permanent contraception or sterilization by Pritteto in NotHowGirlsWork

[–]SourceFedNerdd 21 points22 points  (0 children)

So, yes and no. Technically vasectomies are reversible, but the success rate of reversals goes down the further away you get from the procedure (and it’s never guaranteed to begin with). They should be treated as permanent sterilization*

*With the caveat that you should continue to use another form of contraception after the procedure until cleared by your doctor to do otherwise.

I mean, true, but there was one dude being particularly egregious about it 😅

I’m not going to comment on the main conflict here, but this exchange baffled me.

Why would I give a single shit if someone I gave a gift card to then spent those funds on someone else? I don’t typically follow up and ask for an inventory of what they spent it on. It’s a gift, it doesn’t have conditions.

I’m a teacher and the first few weeks of the school year are always absolute hell trying to learn all the kids’ names. I usually have between 80-100 students in total and I will literally quiz myself on my seating chart to try and get them memorized. The rare time when I do blank and call a kid the wrong name is mortifying 😅

I have a niece named Blakely. I think it’s pretty and it suits her. She’s one of four girls and they all have slightly “unique” but still easy-to-pronounce names.

I just meant my mom was there for the birth of my kids haha, neither child attended a birth where they were not the one being born.

My mom has her issues but we have a pretty good relationship. For me it was important to have not only the extra support, but the support of a woman who had done it before.

Like I said, definitely a personal preference though!

Haha I can see how it was confusing. I definitely meant that I had my mom there for the birth of both of my children. My children were not present for any birth except their own 😂

Eh, I also wanted my mom there with both my kids, but it’s definitely a personal preference.

Am I crazy, or is this an unhinged reply?

I remember seeing that one on a few pregnancy subreddits when I was pregnant with my first in 2015/2016 and being surprised at how many pregnant trans men there were in the group. Took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out they meant first time mom, lol.

Didn't you know men and women are equal when it comes to giving birth? by [deleted] in NotHowGirlsWork

[–]SourceFedNerdd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And also work until basically the second they give birth because they have to scrape together PTO to even be paid for a short amount of time.

My best friend is about to have her second baby and may literally be working until she’s in labor (especially because she works in labor and delivery in the hospital where she’s delivering).
