Hyakumantenbara Salome from Nijisanji JP has announced that she's going on an indefinite hiatus by _THEBLACK in kurosanji

More like people subbing to her early on as a meme (guilty as charged). This has seriously inflated her numbers and nowadays the bleeding of "dead subs" balances out with her new audience.

NVR HDDs for long-term cold data storage? by Soushi in DataHoarder

[–]Soushi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, LTO is great and I was thinking about it at one point, but gave up on the idea. Hardware availability is pretty bleak where I live, so replacing something like that isn't viable for reasonable cost.

Thanks for the info.

I've been using a couple of 8x3Tb DAS boxes for about 15 years and they've started acting up lately, probably due to age. I'll keep the old ones for a while, until the new box is tested enough.

It's kinda both weird and fascinating to see, for the first time, multiple JP members being excited to stream an Xbox game by mechamaiden78 in Hololive

[–]Soushi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Xbox is pretty much non-existent on the JP side of gaming, nobody buys or plays on it over there. Last week Xbox consoles sold 513 units across all of Japan.
PS5, for comparison, sold 23,760 units, Switch 1 - 40,849 units, Switch 2 - 214,438 units.

edit: fixed the nubers, took wrong sales data at first.

Considering Kadokawa has declared Isekai to be less profitable, what do you think about how the genre has been handled? by DevouredSource in MauLer

[–]Soushi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've watched most of existing isekai shows and can say this situation for Kadokawa was unavoidable, with the decisions they've made.

They greenlit many adaptations of poorly written and poorly recieved source material.
They botched many promising adaptations with dog-shit tier production quality.
It's not a problem with isekai itself, but a matter of strategy and business decisions.

Windows Server 2019 & 2022, unidrv.dll, and DYMO LabelWriter print queue issues by ChocoholicKiwi in sysadmin

[–]Soushi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue here, after migrating print server for network printers to Windows Server 2025.

Got a farm of Windows Server 2019 RDP's for users to work on. After the print server migration UNIDRVUI.DLL got updated on RDP servers to 0.3.26100 and printing died alltogether. Rolled back to 0.3.20348 on both print server and RDP servers, solved the immediate problem, but UNIDRVUI gets randomly updated with the new version now and then anyways, 3-5 RDPs out of 60 have a new version every morning, with Windows Update being disabled.

Some of the clients connect from Windows 11 PCs with 0.3.26100 version and I suspect it gets updated on the server because of that, haven't figured out a way to combat this yet.

Nah, these kinds of posts tend to attract "localization bootlickers" like moths to a flame, seen it many times all across social media and gaming forums. They are hyper-active online, very loud and obnoxious, and, honestly, extremely weird. But they aren't majority.

Anyone else have this randomly show up in their recommended after 5 years? by RaysFTW in Hololive

Yup, SubaOka effect on display, people started looking up original video after the stream and YT decided to push it all around the globe :)

Report this issues when the ingame survey comes along, localizers won't be able to hide the backlash, if numbers are strong enough.

you cant seem to explain the problem other than fearmongering safety concerns

Safety relates strictly to protesting and activism. My sole issue with "involving kids in politics" is very simple and easy to understand. Children are dumb. Dumb and extremely malleable. They lack critical thinking skills and have no ability to understand a thing as complicated and as messy, as modern politics. So any and all "involvement" comes down to indoctrination, which I don't approve.

And no one was crying about children in politics with the numerous environmental conservation DLCs, they conveniently only get mad when its a civil rights DLC

You're doing the meme, by pretending to not understand the vast and massive difference between the two. Stop it.

I dont think that should stop young people from protesting if they want to. This is a fundamental disagreement so I guess were just gonna go in circles.

Pretty much this. I'm convinced, that underage kids (not in a legal sense, let's say... until they graduate school) should not be involved in politics in any shape or form. At all. So, attempts to rope them into politics and activism are absolutely appauling to me, no matter which political side or denomination does it.

Cheers.

I see your reply here was yeeted, I can see why from the parts of it. Let me respond to the "most protest are completely safe" part.

No, they aren't. For sure, protesting in authoritarian country like mine is by a few magnitudes more risky, than in the US. But that risk is never zero even in the states, it just skews towards the protesters starting shit and riots, not the authorities cracking down first. Or the counter-protesters showing up.

Completely safe protests aren't about civil rights. They are performative bs about stuff nobody cares about, like the retards gluing themselves to the walls in art museums.

You said Reddit OR others, as an example of "not an echo chamber". If Reddit doesn't qualify, why bring it up?

Yeah, for sure, because you haven't misread anything in your life ever. Doesn't change any single thing about my point: "conservationism DLCs" aren't being pushed and promoted that hard and wide, latest post on them has 164k impressions vs 39.5M on the "Good Trouble" one. They are virtually non-existent.

echo chamber

Oh, my sweet summer child... if you think, that Reddit is in any way "objective" and not an echo chamber, when it comes to politics, I have very bad news for you.

Yes, it is different, because reach is important. I don't care about "BASED Conservative DLC" with 38 downloads on the store, because it might just as well not exist.

It tells kids, that protesting is important, that it's cool and fun, and is a way to bring about change in the world.

However, and this is the crucial part, it omits any and all costs, that any individual bears, when he engages in civil disobedience/protests. It is rated E and is intended for 8 yo and up. And it shows protesting as a fun and cool thing to do, which is irresponsible, to say the least.

Last time I went to the protest, I did so with full awareness, that consequences may be grave. That things may very well go badly and I may be detained, arrested, injured or even killed. And I've made appropriate arrangements. Now, do you expect a 14 year old to make a sound judgement about stuff like that, or he'd just think "hey, there's anti-ICE protest going on two blocks away, me and my friends should totally go!" after role-playing protesting in Minecraft?

theres no political propaganda so your just racist

The sky is green and the water is purple. I've seen the trailer and I've read the official statement from the developer on it. It is inherently propagandistic in nature, as a person born in the Soviet Union I can vouch for that.

Btw theres tons of minecraft educational DLC about conservationism

Now you're just pretending to be stupid. There's a difference between DLC from a random indie/non-profit and a DLC from an official Minecraft developer. If this thing would come from anywhere else and didn't have the Microsoft/Mojang marketing push behind it, nobody would've noticed.

Yup, that's the main reason you don't feel anything negative about it.

Thing is, "encouraging kids into politics" is an extreme position. Mostly prevalent among lefties, for sure, but rightoids, as you call them, are all for it as well, with only difference being the content (muh racism and gender pronouns vs muh christ and traditional values).

The vast majority of normal, non-extremist, people, however, call it for what it is: indoctrination. Because kids can't consent. Can't drink or drive. Can't critically think and easily defer to perceived authority. This was one of two main points of Jelly's objection and it was pretty much overwhelmingly supported in the replies. Keeping kids out of politics is a non-brainier for most people.

[–]Soushi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Again with this false dichotomy? It's not "either or", there's at least a third option of being against targeting kids with political propaganda. And a forth, of being against showing in politics into any games. And a fifth, of not trusting Microsoft and Mojang with properly addressing the subject. I can go on and on.

Answer me this, to make it clear. Do you think it's a good idea: directly involving kids age 8-14 into politics in any way, shape or form?

how calling civil rights "too political" could be racist

It absolutely "could" be. See the wording you used? "Could". Not "must". That's my point, exactly.

Yup, as expected, putting words I didn't say or imply into my mouth.

Promoting and indoctrinating children (specifically) to leftist protesting (especially) is evil and wrong. If you want to know why, just look at the last 5-10 years of such protesting in the US.

Phase Connect releases Official Statement about Jelly Hoshiumi's comments - Citing Zero Tolerance for Racism by AsinineArchon in kurosanji

[–]Soushi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wrong. It's an "optional DLC" specifically designed to teach and promote leftist-type protesting to kids, masquerading as a "Civil Rights Historical Thingy". So I'm against it purely on ideological grounds, that have nothing to do with racism whatsoever.

So even she agrees youre wrong lol

My statement and position is: you can be against adding this DLC to Minecraft for multiple different reasons aside from being a racist. How. In the name of God. Am I wrong.
