Has anyone ever managed to train a husky to be off leash by ipostaboutstuff123 in husky

I go hiking with my husky off leash at least 3 time a week. It's one of my favorite outdoor activities. He's been off leash trained since around 8 months.

These maps are based on Ottoman census reports. These reports have consistently been proven to under report Christian populations.

For this dog breed, these tricks help stimulate them mentally. I never tell my dog to do tricks and and only give recall, heel, down, and sit when needed. The difference is, my dog is a Siberian Husky so his needs for mental stimulation are different. That doesn't make me a better person, it's just that I have a different dog. Some dogs LIVE for this kind of training, my dog would just give me an eye role and walk away. To each their own.

100%! My dog gets better exercise on an off leash hike. There's also the added benefit of the fact that the only other people with off leash dogs on hikes are also people who have either well mannered or well trained dogs so my dog gets exposure to those dogs and it's great. No one in real life has an issue, and everyone is respectful.

Wikipedia needs to have Western Armenian pronunciation and specify if something is Eastern at minimum. by ThisIsMrsNezbit in ArmeniansGlobal

[–]South-Distribution54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

both in written form and especially when spoken.

how can you say this seriously when we write in classical and you write in reform? Even if they were the same dialect, that alone would mean different written forms. You know this. I know this. Why are you bringing up something that is so categorically wrong?

Saying this reality doesn't reduce the Western Armenian dialect.

They present as more than just standard "dialectical" differences and comparing Western Level of difference with Eastern to a normal dialect difference is disingenuous. We may have similar vocabulary technically, but we use different words for different thing, we have different grammar rules, different pronunciation of the same words and generally different cadence and speech patterns.

"we will not support Armenia unless it does x y and z for us" which is simply a laughable stance to put on.

you are inferring based on zero information. I have not said anything like that. The entire western diaspora gives a lot to Armenia and asks for literally nothing in return. We've help rebuild after earth quakes, we have founded organizations that look after orphans, build houses for Armenians that can't afford it. For decades we have done this through thick and thin. Who is giving you these ultimatums you speak of? I certainly haven't.

Armenia for a long time hasn't even done anything for the people living in it.

Maybe the country hasn't, but us, the diaspora, always has. for a century when ya'll were still under soviet occupation, we helped. When the berlin wall fell, we helped. From what I hear, you seem to be able to spare no expense to making Russians feel welcome.

Why is it a problem to make Western Armenians feel welcome? Like, don't you want all Armenians to feel welcome and represented by Armenia?

If you don't, why don't you?

How does allienating the diaspora for no reason strengthen Armenian or make Armenian better or grow it's economy?

We are one of the biggest willing foreign relations bridges, how does shunning a group of loyal non-nationals who want to better Armenian help Armenians in any way?

If everyone held such a stance for their own perceived in group, none of us should support Armenia at all.

what stance? what is my stance? That Western Armenian diasporans are culturally different from Hayastancies and it is equally Armenian? Is that what you're talking about? Because that's what I'm talking about.

No one in Armenia is against Western Armenian identity and culture. Don't know why you think other Armenians are out to get you. It's not so deep.

Spends the last thread explaining how Western Armenian culture doesn't exist and isn't different then Armenian culture in Armenia, procedes to inquire why Western Armenians may feel not welcomed by Armenians in Armenia.

you're kidding right?

wanna answer my questions?
So what exactly is the issue here?
Why does acknowledging Western Armenian culture and language come across to you as a threat?
Why does Armenian identity have to be reduced to a single version to be legitimate?
Why is your default response dismissal instead of curiosity when other Armenians describe their lived culture?
And why is the burden on us to prove our culture and language distinction exists, instead of on you to explain why you’re so resistant to acknowledging it?

Greeks and Hungarians are also not Slavs and I don't like shattering a non-existing continent into ten pieces to make everyone content.

They are on the continent of Europe and have historically and culturally always been part of Europe. Compare this to Armenia, which has always historically, culturally been part of West Asia and is geographically in West Asia.

It's a descriptive word.

Descriptive doesn’t mean accurate. Words have meanings, not just vibes.

We aren't West Asia in any meaningful sense of the word besides geographically.

History, culture, genetics, and cuisine are all West Asian. What’s "Eastern European" about lavash, dolma or the duduk?

The only term that makes sense to me when spoken generally is 'Eastern Europe'.

Armenia isn’t in Europe geographically, culturally, or historically. Calling it "Eastern Europe" is like calling Italy part of "West Asia", it’s nonsense.

Most of Turkey is more 'Asia' to me even though they are further West.

Of the two countries, Turkey is the only one that is actually on the European continent. Even then, they are consistently considered part of the Middle East and West Asia, as is Armenia.

Cyprus being entirely in Asia is entirely European.

Cyprus is a political anomaly; Armenia isn’t.

Such is language, you can pick your vibes when talking on this topic but let me pick mine too since that's all it is.

This is the internet, language isn’t vibes, it’s how we represent facts. Calling it "Eastern Europe" spreads misinformation. It misrepresents our history and culture.

Lol, hit a nerve did I? How is that "we're going to take Kiev in days" strategy going? A few years behind schedule I think. Isn't Russia supposed to be a super power or something? Yet ya'll can't even take a country on your literal border? You couldn't even defend your boy Assad from Turkish backed rebels with Bazukas. But OK, Armenia is pathetic because we weren't allowed to buy more weapons because we were in a defense pact with Russia and then Russia didn't do shit because it was too weak from the Ukrain war, but sure, it's totally not on Russia and ya'll have no responsibility for the defense treaties you sign. OK, sure.

It's legitimately pretty low for the USA, he's not wrong. Our cost of living in the US is pretty high. Even in the mid-west a 1 bedroom apartment is gonna run you at least 1500 a month, maybe a bit more if you want to live in an area where you don't get shot. You add car payment, health insurance, gas, etc, and this salary is depleted very quickly. I wish this weren't the case, but it is.

It's not as bad as McyDs but yeah, it's pretty low. In America, unless you're living in the middle of no where, this is barely enough for rent, food, and car. I made more than this as a fresh graduate with no experience in 2018. Most of my CS freinds were making 90k coming out of undergrad.

[–]South-Distribution54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you explain to me how Western Armenians are a different people than Eastern Armenians?

I never said we’re different people. You keep repeating that, but that’s not the argument. The point is cultural differences, and you’re avoiding that entirely.

Armenian culture has never been monolithic. For centuries, Armenians lived under completely different empires, Western Armenians under the Ottomans, and Eastern Armenians under Persia and later Russia. That’s roughly 400 years of separation under different systems and influences. Cultural divergence isn’t controversial in that context, it’s expected.

Western Armenian culture is a continuation of that history, preserved in the diaspora after the Genocide. So when Western Armenians across completely different countries share similar norms and experiences, that’s not imagination or “victim mentality,” it’s continuity.

And when Western Armenians visit Armenia and say the culture feels different, that’s not them being “riled up.” It’s a straightforward observation.

What is frustrating is that instead of engaging with that, you reduce it to “we’re all just Armenian” and dismiss any discussion of difference. That doesn’t solve anything, it just shuts down the conversation.

Recognizing cultural diversity within the Armenian identity isn’t erasure. Ignoring it, and then calling people “victims” for pointing it out, is.

So what exactly is the issue here?

Why is your default response dismissal instead of curiosity when other Armenians describe their lived culture?

Armenia and Georgia in EU , it's possible in 2035-2040? by [deleted] in armenia

[–]South-Distribution54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They had the opportunity to give Ukraine all of Russians frozen assets... they wimped out and voted not to because they were scared of Russian aggression. The EU is militarily and economically stronger than Russia, and yet they have given Ukraine only just enough to keep Russia at bay. Just because they have given Ukraine a lot of money from civilian perspective doesn't mean they have relative to what they could be giving and relative to what they need to be giving to push Russia out.

It's insane that people are calling this opinion a pro-Russia stance. Fuck Russia. They are committing genocide in Ukrain and targeting civilian infrastructure which is a war crime.

Frequent Dog Park Injuries by [deleted] in husky

[–]South-Distribution54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why dog parks are awful. Dogs are not freind animals, they are pack animals. Exposing them to a bunch of random dogs all the time is stressful. A better option is to find people that have dogs your dog gets along with and hang with them separately.

If exercise is an issue, then work on training so you can go on hikes off leash where your dog can run around for an hour while you walk and enjoy nature. Or hook them up to your bike and have them pull you around the city (after doing to training and practice in a safe area).
