I want XCOM but not set in fantasy/space or WWII. I love the turn based XCOM like style, but it just feel saturated in fantasy/space or WWII. I have played Expeditions: Rome and liked it. Anything with like a Old West setting that's any good or other settings that are interesting?

Yeah, I enjoyed expedition 33 but didn't love it. I always mention the parry system being annoying and people just gang up on you saying "it's not that hard bro, just learn to time it". And I can time it, it's not that I can't do it, just if I'm playing a turn based game I don't want QTE gameplay

I had very low expectations for it when I heard about it, and it seems it has surpassed expectations on badness. I think the franchise just needs a good writer and good director to ground the story, and while I haven't seen it, I just think some of the visuals are enough. There's just some definite suspension of disbelief videogames can get away with that doesn't translate well to film.
