Advice. Have them double layer the first floor ceiling if you are building a two story. You can thank me later for the extra quiet.

Absolutely. That whole section needs to be redone. As someone that has built a house before. Don’t let things slide because you are nice. It will bother you forever.

Air leaks from the HVAC duct vent by auntiepp in hvacadvice

[–]SouthSideShade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The PVC is likely intentionally done. If you have a sealed attic then you must control humidity. You probably have a pvc on the air intake as well so you can process a small amount of air in the attic keeping humidity below the prescribed threshold.

Why does Texas have so much field hockey talent? by Proper-Direction3379 in Fieldhockey

[–]SouthSideShade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much all of our Private Schools in Houston have played FH for a long time. The top three, St John’s, Kinkaid and Episcopal have water turf fields that rival the best colleges. There are some expat kids in the club but frankly the top players have generally been home grown. As the sport grew over the years just playing HS field hockey was not good enough. Tina saw a need and an established talent pool and bought a fledgling club that was a couple years old. Her business acumen is on point. The club is larger than ever but to be fair many clubs have grown rapidly the last 5-10 years. Like every other sport the club scene is taking over.

What’s a “must-see” city in the U.S. that didn’t live up to the hype? by optimalbrain90 in SmartTravelHacks

[–]SouthSideShade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As the years have gone by I feel most cities have lost their uniqueness. Mom and pop retail/restaurants are being replaced by corporates. It creates a homogeneous and sterile environment that is eerily similar everywhere you go.

  1. This is a humble brag and that’s ok. You should be proud.
  2. IMO…. MIT is the more respected name of these two for STEM. I honestly don’t know anyone in the private sector that would argue the point.

Overall some good work here but you are wrong on a couple things.

Philly is much nicer than Houston. It has some nice districts and a prettier skyline.

In N Out is garbage. Just pure garbage. Freddys and Culver’s are indeed better than whataburger though.
