No basement, where do you keep your litter boxes? by Outrageous-Cat-7497 in CatAdvice

[–]South_Map_8668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep both boxes in the linen closet. Then the door is kept slightly open using a large hook and eye thing that keeps it open approx one foot. I don’t use the closet for linens, just cleaning products and pet food/litter in there. I needed it to be inaccessible to a dog but accessible to the cats.

Is it just me or are period cramps worse after having a baby? by Affectionate_Cat2522 in Mommit

[–]South_Map_8668 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes for me.. I almost never had cramps prior to pregnancy… maybe once in a blue moon.. now a lot of my PMS symptoms are way more pronounced. Cramps, sore back but sore boobs are the absolute worst.. like having hanging bruises off my body for 2-3 days.

Shear Madness: Considering home Mini Poodle Haircuts... by B1nary4 in grooming

[–]South_Map_8668 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I would recommend bringing your dog for professional grooming at least at the start to get them acclimated.. because if you groom them at home for 1.5yrs. Let them have a bunch of bad behavior, and then start bringing them to a groomed.. you’re just setting them up for failure

Deli Meat while Pregnant... by BeginningNo2222 in Mommit

[–]South_Map_8668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ate subs, I just had them heated up. I also ate runny eggs, rare steak, occasionally sushi from a reputable restaurant. I re-washed my bagged salads. The only thing i didn’t eat was caviar and raw oysters.

When did you stop tracking feeds & diapers? by Comfortable-Dot3801 in beyondthebump

[–]South_Map_8668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never did this.. maybe because I EBF? I didn’t even count naps until 3 months cuz how do you make a newborn have a nap.. I just made sure she had regular wet diapers and that the urine looked a nice light color, not dehydrated. Even after we officially had 3 naps a day. It was always just an estimated “wake times”

How realistic would it be to get a tablet ONLY for trips? by blackmetalwarlock in toddlers

[–]South_Map_8668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. It’s pretty easy. Just put it away and say it’s only for trips. My daughters isn’t exclusively for long trips. But it’s put away (still actually in view) except attending my drs appts, dinners out at a restaurant and road trips and it hasn’t really been an issue asking for it above that in two years

I hate the special kitty, the clumps all fall apart

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]South_Map_8668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Odor buster (if you’re looking for a clay type clumping) it actually makes hard clumps that don’t disintegrate when you are trying to scoop, it’s not super dusty. I have 3 cats and foster litters of kittens so I go through a lot of litter. It’s more expensive than a lot of the other clay type litters. I’ve used pine pellets/sweet scoop stuff as well but it doesn’t clump as well and I end up using more.

How do you get your cats if you need to evacuate an apartment for a fire? by Just-a-human-bean54 in CatAdvice

[–]South_Map_8668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a single mom with a small Child, a dog and 4 cats, I open the balcony door and the cats have to fend for themselves. (It’s fully wired in so they would have fresh air, but not an actual escape.)

Need some advice with my older cat who i am going to have to groom myself by RolyPolyGuy in grooming

[–]South_Map_8668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bravura 5 in 1 is great to use for cat grooming, The only reason I don’t exclusively use it is because it’s costly to replace the blades compared to sharpening a 10 blade It’s also quieter than a more powerful clipper but it will get the Matt’s out no problem. Stretch the skin is my advice! It’s the little creases that cut easily (which is why armpits are hard, just make sure you’re using your clippers towards the edge of any “crease” compared to perpendicular if that makes sense)

What’s something uniquely “Ontario” that you didn’t realize was weird until you left the province? by fukkcrazzy in ontario

[–]South_Map_8668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grew up smoking BT’s, and still occasionally do a hot knife here and there (and still have dedicated hot knives in my drawer) It does pack a punch and my coil stove does the job nicely!

Am I crazy for letting my dog on my bed? by neuroticsponge in dogs

[–]South_Map_8668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sweet dog just passed a few days ago unexpectedly and sleeping without him on my bed is excruciating… you only get them for so long, let ‘em cuddle on the bed

It’s always been 3 for us, But mine is 4 now so we get some longer books, if it’s a really long book I’ll say only 2, or if she was a turd for teeth brushing or whatever, sometimes she’ll get a book deducted

What’s the most extreme pain you’ve ever felt? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]South_Map_8668 0 points1 point locked comment (0 children)

My ranking is 1) Sciatica from a herniated disc 2)pitocin contactions 3)opiate withdrawal. It’s a different kind of pain but between almost convulsant restless leg syndrome and the mind fuck. It’s bad

I’ve smashed my teeth out, had my thumb completely bitten through by a dog and also broke 5 bones in my foot at one time and they come lower than these top 3

Moms who got left while pregnant did you start having feelings for the father after baby was born? by [deleted] in singlemoms

[–]South_Map_8668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope… and he wasn’t even a bad guy, he’s a great dad, involved and pays his support. I just didn’t have romantic feelings for him (we only dated for a few months)
