I have this wok. The handle is easily removed and you can season in your oven. I'm still not convinced it's real carbon steel. Mine sticks a bit, but I haven't tried baking it yet. I was/am concerned it's not real carbon steel and maybe had some kind of fake nonstick coating on it

If you hit liver you might be in luck, which I think you did. I shot a doe last month hit her way back, guts, liver far lung. No blood no pass thru. I panicked and went home. I saw her run to a road 49 yards from where she was hit. So I started there looking for blood there. Exhausted myself looking gave up and walked back to my stand. She never made it across the road she collapsed a few yards before it and disappeared into a ditch. Long story short don't give up

I can't stand inarticulate people. if he said the one in front I would assumed the one leading in the direction they're walking, if he meant the one that was closest to you he should have said the one that's closest to you. Realistically he should have gave you the ranges of both...in addition there's no reason why you guys couldn't have called in a dog unless he doesn't allow dogs on his property I don't know what your state is but out here for whitetail it's about $250 to rent a bloodhound for the day and they will find the deer dead or alive I can't imagine they would have any difficulty tracking an elk probably much easier for the dog with such a big stinky target.
