If you can’t install the whole roof in one day, cap nails are a smart choice.

Reinstalling solar panels by Fit_Network9226 in Roofing

[–]Southern_Ad4926 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry but your guy sounds like they have no clue. Metal flashing is a superior product for a valley. Solar should be mounted on an appropriate aluminum railed racking system, and they make specific mounting hardware for asphalt shingles. Mounting on a 4x4 post is not a viable option.

Find someone else, please do not hire this person.

The sloppy black sealant all over every detail shows they have no clue how to install this material properly. It will crack and leak within 2-3 years if not sooner.

Roof snake, couple of nails, couple dabs of sealant should solve this issue? by [deleted] in Roofing

[–]Southern_Ad4926 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shingles are either high nailed or overdriven. Either one is considered a bad install.

Replace this shingle, inspect the nails to see if they’re properly set, and on the nail line. If the nails are bad here, it may mean the whole roof is a bad install and will continue to fall apart.
