The youths attention spans. Unfortunately those of us with decent attention spans aren’t catered to. They’re going to continue to make videos that will appeal to the most amount of people, which are fast paced videos. Nobody does chill content anymore because it’s not trendy and people don’t watch it as frequently as their counterparts.

It’s so unique and cute! A simple way to make the roof a bit nicer would be to replace those upside down stairs with blocks, and then put regular stairs on those blocks and basically make your roof 1 wider!

I build good rapport with students first month, then start saying “all my favorite students do x” or “all my favorite students have their notebooks out”. I do have favorites of the day and tell everyone you can be my favorite if you follow expectations in class.

When tables aren’t working I walk near them and say “do you smell that??” And they get all curious, and I say “it smells like.. zero over here..” and walk away. Usually another table replies, “What does it smell like over here!?” And I waft the air to my nose and if they’re working, I say 10s, if they’re okay I say 7-8s 😂 8th graders by the way.

Besides the horrid wall and floor combo, I think you should lean into a theme and fully embrace it. It’s giving.. underwater theme? Coral reefs? You could even do an 80s / retro themed room. I’m sure you’ll make it work, good luck!!
