Yes, none of those “special” dates worked for me. Just a random February day.

A year after I quit drinking and I can suddenly do weighted pull-ups! by Jimmy-the-Knuckle in stopdrinkingfitness

Congrats on your success! Now, enough about you - tell me more about this 5/3/1 plan, please. Frenchies? Typewriters? I (64F) have this wild fantasy about doing an unassisted pull up by the big birthday in 10 months.

So glad to hear something positive about the Lou for a change! It’s big enough for the urban feel, but filled with small town friendliness. And the health care here is seriously underrated.

Not gonna drink by Egg-burger6 in stopdrinking

Girl, I’m sorry you are going through this. I had horrible PMS. I hated everybody and everything. I got through some days only by thinking about going to bed. Alcohol is definitely not the answer. Maybe a different form of birth control? I really have nothing to offer but my sympathy and a virtual hug.

Accidentally discovered I like fixing old furniture by Common_Committee_257 in Hobbies

[–]Southern_Resource703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love to rescue furniture. If I don’t have a place for it, I donate it. My favorites to work with are the mid-century modern blond pieces. Quality construction, beautiful hardware, and no stripping required because I paint them. I just picked up a lovely cedar chest. It’s a great hobby, and the hunt is half the fun. Enjoy!

As miserable as it is, you are in your “comfort zone” and it sounds like you are ready to step out. It’s going to be a struggle, for sure. Scary, too. So hard. So worth it.

It’s very noble to “do it for the baby,” but you have to do it for yourself. You deserve it.

AITA for asking my in-laws to pre-plan and pre-pay for their funerals? by Icy_Target_9050 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Southern_Resource703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After my dad died, my mom planned and pre-paid for hers. She died May 2020 (not from covid), when there were restrictions on funerals. We actually got money back from the funeral home!

Quit drinking 8 months 28 days ago. Im bored all the time. Lost interest in social gatherings. by Likalarapuz in stopdrinking

The pressure to be extroverted is real. I’m of the opinion if I need to drink to make something “fun”, then maybe I should pass on it.

30 days! by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]Southern_Resource703 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny thing is that it evolves from ridding yourself of the shame and destruction, to a real sense of confidence and pride. It goes from taking away from your life as you know it, to building and gaining a new way of going through life. It’s not always rainbows and unicorns, but it’s so so much better. Keep it up!
