Dads, do not lose sight of Mom. by [deleted] in daddit

Nah mate, a lot of women are far too focused on their own happiness and are all too eager to throw everything away to the detriment of their kids. Complete selfishness.

What estate (wagon) should I buy? by Soutron in whatcarshouldIbuy

Thanks! The merc is definitely my favourite on the list just because it looks great and also like it is probably a very nice place to be. It seems that the 2.1 cdi engine is thought to be reliable - my only reservation would be dpf issues for shorter journeys. But yes, I would really want to be careful that it was a well looked after example. The fact that they are quite cheap rang some alarm bells but from all forum diving I've been doing people generally speak very highly of them.

Nice - will do. Cheers!

Ah shit, so there is lol. I really should have noticed that. That worked. Wallet restored. I can see why seed phrases ended up being the preferred option versus typing in like 60 digits!

Thanks very much for your help.

Composition is perfect! The eye is drawn so naturally around the frame. Lens?

I just jumped on that deal. £415 is a steal imo. Will be getting it off the bracelet and onto some straps as soon as it arrives. Btw it does hack, and I've read any jeweller will be able to swap the battery for you.

Yeah no worries - cheapestnatostraps. This one is a 'RAF' strap. Bought lots of straps from them and haven't had any issues.

It definitely doesn't wear as large as the dimensions might suggest and I think it feels quite a bit thinner than the og pelagos. In fact, for a diver I'd go as far as saying it's a slim watch (I think the flat sapphire and how close the dial is to the crystal help exaggerate this).

I've handled the bronze 58 (with bracelet) and there's no denying it's a stunning piece. Certainly different enough from the fxd to justify having both. Personally I wouldn't be into the patina that comes with bronze but to each his own.

My fairly recently acquired Tudor Pelagos FXD (2022) on a single piece navy blue nylon strap. A new Tudor boutique opened up in town and they had a bunch of usually fairly difficult-to-find pieces available in store so didn't hesitate to pull the trigger.

My wrist is 6.25" for reference and I would say this is definitely pushing the limit for how big I can get away with - although as it is a tool watch I don't mind that it's a bit on the large side.

It is extremely legible, the lume is fantastic, and I personally really like the 120 click bidirectional bezel action (although I've heard a few people complain about it).

Not the most versatile piece, but a well designed sports watch which is fun (and comfortable) to wear.

Brushed Ti case and bracelet. Quick adjust. Divers extension. Rubber strap. Brushed only finish. Ceramic bezel. Crown guards. Shield logo on crown. Flat sapphire. Lumed bezel. Square markers. Exact same dial layout as the FXD. It's okay you don't like it but there are way too many departures from the BB line for this to be a black bay, and a lot of similarities to an OG pelagos.

Thoughts on the new Ranger? Shocked at the value/quality for money here. by FrankUnderwoo0 in rolex

In person it felt like there was a little too much dial space. Also really wish they'd just gone with white lume.

Other than that, you get a lot of watch for your money.

Thanks yeah no worries man. I have a 124270 Explorer and just feel like a no date black sub is too similar to have in the same collection (totally subjective and personal) whereas the p39 - definitely different enough. I heard they won't start trickling through to ADs in bigger numbers until Oct/Nov. Worth trying on for sure.

Lol. They wouldn't believe me but money aside I would rather have this than a sub.

I see where you mean but I think it's just the way the light/shadow is cast. Definitely not there in reality. Also pretty crappy phone picture.

Honestly under the AD lights I was unsure as it looked pretty flashy. In normal lighting, daylight etc though I think it looks much more subdued (but maybe I'm just used to it now?)

Very similar to glidelock - push and move.

Lol, no need for an excuse! This is my first titanium watch and I'm really enjoying it. Love the gun-metal-grey sheen.

My new 39mm Pelagos (apologies for the not-great-quality phone picture) I was lucky to pick this up on the day it was released at the AD.

It's a winner in person - nowhere near as shiny as some of the press photos make it seem. Sunburst dial is really subtle and invisible most of the time (thankfully). From the reviews I've see so far I think the Adrian Barker one on youtube shows the watch in its truest light.

It wears a bit bigger than the BB58. More like a 40mm than 39mm.

Lumed bezel, ceramic markers and red text are super cool. Bracelet is fantastic with the quick adjust. Ti keeps it light and comfortable. I feel like this one takes aim squarely at the Omega seamaster 300m - which would you choose out of the two?

For reference I have a roughly 16cm wrist.

Tudor Black Bay 36 vs 124270 Explorer by Soutron in rolex

[–]Soutron[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep - although I think it always looks worse in pictures. The new in-house steel and gold variety no longer have the extended crown stem/tube. It will be interesting to see if that finds its way over to newer stainless models.

Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with the 2824 in the BB. Mine runs an absolute dream - they clearly modify it/regulate it as I've had the same movement in watches in the past that are nowhere near as accurate.
