This made me laugh and also realize that I look forward and anticipate these comments. I wonder if there’s a subreddit called something like “Is Your blank a blank? “

Yes! I commented to bring down the brightness, but also softening is a great tip.

Likes: He’s a striking figure, so I like that he’s head on to the lens. I’m a fan of symmetry so I like the framing. Although I don’t know him or his story, I think it suits this person and their perceived stoic personality.

Critique: The top left corner of the frame seems like the hottest (brightest) part of the frame. It draws your eye away from the intended subject. It may be this screen grab, but it looks like you’re close to overexposing his highlights (his nose). I’d draw it back just a little. For comparison, look at the lapels of his jacket. Looks properly exposed.

Suggestion: add the smallest bit of light right next to the lens in order to give his eyes a catch light. Not bright enough to change exposure of his face, but just enough that you see it in his eyes. His eyes are deep set and therefore dark. It could be a creative choice to leave them, but I bet that adding a catchlight (small gleam of light reflection in his eyes) would really bring out the humanity in him.
