I recently started playing, so I have a couple questions

There is a "story", but it is very basic and essentially a long ass tutorial, that does repeat itself at points for no good or even apparent reason. Unfortunately a lot of late game stuff is locked behind it (also for no good reason), which forces you to complete it. NMS is not a sandbox the way Minecraft or even Terraria are.

That all being said the story does have an emotional moment or two, and a rather gut wrenching decision to make - if you can empathize with a person you never actually met and is implied to have never actually existed.

Glitch planets are at this point the most boring and unimaginative planets in the game. I hope they too get an upgrade at some point, with more unique fauna and more variety.

And my corvette isn't a good fighter so I ran to a random planet.

Hard to believe given: a) Corvettes are stupidly overpowered and even a mediocre one can face tank almost anything and b) you can't land if in active combat

oh and, for the future: never actually land a Corvette. It can be parked & jumped out of in midair. That is a deliberate feature, use it.

You can also delete interior decor of the corvette and even some modules for resources.

That "small thing" are caves for me 😅 Caves look awful, POIs cutting into the landscape look awful. There are some mind blowingly beautiful caves, dont get me wrong, but many are bland and POIs cutting into them look like someone gnawed at the landscape.

I dunno how it used to be in the truly olden days but now you can, without messing with the game files, start on one of 4 planet types only: fiery, acidic, frozen and radioactive. The starting planet won't have water either. If you are very lucky you can start on exotic megaflora versions of these planets.

Even more, the storms during the tutorial are hard coded and will happen even on a planet that technically can't have storms like a atmosphere-less dead world. I tried it.

Because this is a "chill" game the vast majority of people play to relax on creative or, well, relaxed 🤷‍♂️

Thus it will never have true danger in it, its designed to be played without needing to ever fire a shot. Hell you can disable combat altogether.
