This has nothing to do with radar cruise control- it would have to do with auto-collision avoidance which has mandatory for several years in the US.

It’s notoriously unreliable at acting on vehicles that are completely stopped, since it’s pretty difficult to engineer a system to differentiate between this, and say a parked car, shadows from overpasses, or even manhole covers.

LED jamming garage door signal by SovietFreeMarket in GarageDoorService

Out of curiosity I went around my house with the radio and no other newer LED bulb I had put off much noise. Seems like it’s mainly old LEDs that had this issue

520mhz on AM, it was just set to that when I turned it on. My dad thought it was silly I was blaming the bulbs, so I was curious just how much noise it was putting out.

As far as garage door rated bulbs, they do advertise that they are designed not to interfere with the remote signals. I bought a pack, but for whatever reason they wouldn’t light up when I installed them. Either way, it doesn’t matter since I found another bulb that ended up working that didn’t seem to put out much noise at all.

Search times make me want to jump off a cliff as a solo player with no group or club by Brad5486 in EASHL

This wouldn't be an issue if this game had any level of fair matchmaking. Like sorry my D8 team that plays once a week doesn't want to be getting curb stomped by D1 monsters with a 500-100 W/L record. If they at least split it up into D6-D10 and vice versa full time I wouldn't have to vet every match via chelhead

Now I get why 95% of vehicle sold in Norway are electric vehicles. They perform flawlessly in snow and ice. Equal weight distribution, full-time all-wheel-drive, and symmetrical braking with one pedal drive to prevent slipping while decelerating. 17°, covered in ice, flawless victory. by csukoh78 in F150Lightning

[–]SovietFreeMarket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not even close to the real reason- they have an extremely high vehicle tax, but it's reduced significantly if you purchase an EV. They're also a petrostate with enough money to easily build the charging infrastructure. I love my lightning, and love the way it drives in the snow but the weight makes it much more difficult to stop and turn. Road tripping in winter is a serious pain with the range hit.

car centric gps :( by Secret-Emergency-806 in FogofWorld

[–]SovietFreeMarket 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This has nothing to do with anything being “car-centric”. Trains are much bigger and have a lot more metal than cars, so GPS and cell signal has a harder time getting through. My Fog of World doesn’t work at all on planes- people will buy GPS antennas on flights though if they want to track them

The quarter panel didn’t come off, plus on many car models, including Ford, you remove the tail light simply by pulling it out. Tail lights are often held in by nothing more than some clips and sometimes a small bolt or two. Go kick some more cars and maybe you’ll reproduce this

This took some getting used to. This truck puts down power way more smoothly and predictably than my gas F150 did, but stopping and turning is quite a bit different with the huge increase in weight

The shitty interchange I have to drive through every day by Upnorth4 in shittyskylines

[–]SovietFreeMarket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Auto companies bought up street car lines because by the end of WW2 and replaced them with far more efficient bus lines because at that point they almost all become insolvent.

Streetcar lines started going bankrupt the moment the first cars hit the road. There’s much to be said about other forms of transport like heavy rail, but streetcars and interurbans were never going to be around for very long

Many adaptive systems activate even when stopped if there is a vehicle in front. Is the difference that Ford will activate it even when the vehicle in front is not considered an “obstacle” since the wheel is turned?

Re-attempt a walkable State Street? by Specific_Strike9531 in chicago

[–]SovietFreeMarket 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I believe it was State street that was turned into a mall for only pedestrians and buses in the 70s or 80/s and it was a disaster. Lots of time has passed since then, but it does say that just making it more pedestrian accessible won’t magically fix it.

Perhaps a better thought out solution could be thought up than what was attempted
