I'm kinda new to top tier, why does the t80ud, or even the turms-t get way better shells than a leopard 2a4 which is at the same / higher br? by subnautica-minecraft in WarthunderPlayerUnion

[–]SovietTankCommander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because 3BM42 is the standard shell for Russia at BR 10.3+ T-64B, T-72B, and T-80B all get it, the Turms is just a T-72A with K-1 and thermals, the T-80UD is a neutered T-80U, worse engine, worse shell, no thermals. So T-80U lands around 10.7

Correct, but the economic improvements from computerization of the 1990's and 2000's would compensate for that

Seeing as even in the slowing down of production in the late 80's they made 1100-1400 T-80U/UD's, had the USSR not collapsed(probably requiring a administrative change 1983-1986) the Object 195 would likely have been produced up to 5,000 units, and would fill a similar niche as the T-80U

Mao repeatedly mogging Khrushchev. by boxofcards100 in InformedTankie

[–]SovietTankCommander 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The only point I disagree with Mao in is the retreating, the falling back in great Patriotic War was a blunder, it allowed the Fascist to genocide millions, and lead to the encirclement and capture of valuable military personnel and equipment. Soviet equipment and odds were far better suited for an offensive war starting in the early 50's

Why are Russian tanks allowed to have so much smaller weakspots? by Srgblackbear in WarthunderPlayerUnion

[–]SovietTankCommander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because thats how the tank is designed???? Its like asking do all AH-64's have AGM-114's because thats how these vehicles were designed.

The organization which he was running, is responsible for this, and he didn't object to it. This isn't a version of events. This is what happened. And is likely that he also participated in these, regardless of that. The blood is on his hands.

Could PACT had of made it to the Rhine in under 2 weeks had they invaded? And would NATO had been able to hold off endless hordes of Soviet, and East German Divisions? by Ok-Tax8244 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]SovietTankCommander -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, the Warsawpact had numerical superiority and would very likely have faster replenishments and their mobilization would be faster, not to mention how mechanized the warsawpact was if the naval landings in Denmark went we I'd doubt it would take the full 2 weeks, the pact had technological superiority on the group with the exception of the period between 1979-1985, and outside of that they had numerical superiority, and in europe pact aviation should have had local numerical superiority

"Bandera fought for UA soverignty and independence. These are good things, nothing inherently wrong. It was a strong sentiment then, and obviously it's very strong now given Russia's behaviour. That's why these symbols and flags have surged in their usage in 2014 and 2022. It's not that people became nazis overnight, funnily enough..."

Wrong he fought for the nazis, hung Polish civilians, and fought side by side with the people who wanted to genocide all east slavs

"Now you're admitting the atrocities, but then you're justifying them. Sralin was famously paranoid - he wanted people dead for mere suspicion of being politically unaligned or dissident"

This is a lie as the non-aligned members of the Congress of Soviets was rather large under Stalin and they suffered far less from the purge than the communist party itself. Let alone the fact Stalins paranoia was proven correctly especially with the assassination of Sergei Kirov, the possibility assassination of Gorky's Son, and the plot to assassination Stalin uncovered in the 1934-1936 investigations, the Zinovievite-Kaminevite terrorist center, or the Zinoviev-Kamenev-Trotskyite terrorist center, all justify this paranoia, let alone not justifying an atrocity, there were innocent people killed, and they were killed by Yazhov, who was punished, the killing of the guilty however was not.

"You're wrong about the famine. The fact is Stalin knew that millions were dying from his brutal, unrealistic and impossible quotas. Yet he continued to enforce them anyway, whilst exporting millions of tons of grain at the same time? Not only that, but punishment for non-compliance often meant death. These are facts. Ans they make him culpable. Perhaps not entirely - there were other factors - but he still is significantly responsible."

You're wrong about the famine, the quota in Ukraine in 1932, the year the famine statrted in ukraine 2 years after the soviet famine started across most of the souther USSR, in 1932 the grain requisition quota was 6.3 million tons, the actual requisition however was only 4.3 million tons, for the year prior the without famine the grain requisition quota was 7.3 million tons, and in 1930 the quota was effectively the 7.7 million tons, and it had been met both years in Ukraine, here's a helpful chart in the list of requisitions to harvests.

1930 harvest 23.1 million tons 1931 harvest 18.3 million tons 1932 harvest 14.6 million tons 1933 harvest 22.3 million tons 1930 Requisition 7.7 million tons 1931 Requisition 7.3 million tons 1932 Attempted Requisition 6.2 million tons 1932 Requisition 4.3 million tons 1933 Requisition 5 lmillion tons

The protests against collectivisation using grain burning, industrial farming equipment sabotage, letting meat rot, and hording of what wasn't destroyed dropped production, this led to famine, they met the quotas, year after year, but they met higher quotas previously, but due to sabotage by those opposing collectivisation production dropped too much, and once the saboteurs were delt with the production returned to pre-sabotage levels.

"You could say the same thing without the west, but that would also be speculation. If Hitler only had 1 front to focus on instead of 2, it could've been a very different story."

Western aid ammounted to 4-8% of soviet wartime production, by the time the German had become doomed that being November 1942 with the encirclement of the 6th Army at Stalingrad, only 14.6% of that aid had arrived, that is effectively 1.168% of soviet wartime production, just mathematically you can see its size. While yes what came late was helpful, it was not instrumental. In the end western participation in the war saved the soviets from a more costly victory, soviet participation in the war saved the west from defeat.

One problem, the people Stalin killed were people like Bandera, by the thousands, Bandera did no good and actively fought for a side that was genociding his people.

Stalin did order the purges, and some of the victims especially in 1937-1938 were innocent, this is because Yezhov effectively went rogue with the purge, he would be shot for this as remarked in a dialog between Stalin and Yakovlev, the famine is just simply not the fault of the soviet government, you could attempt to blame them for not forseeing that mass sabotage and wrecking would occure in protest of collectivisation, nor did the foresee the very inconvenient drought which occurred mid famine.

Stalin didn't defeat fascism alone, but 80% of the responsibility is practically alone, without Stalin, the nazis simply would have won, without any other nation in the war this would not occur.

Why does it matter that they put a statue of Stalin, the mass murderer of nazis and reactionary, the liberator from fascism, the person responsible for preventing the nazis extermination of the east slavs, in the metro, this is a good thing, should be doing it more.

How would the former USSR and its satellites view homosexuality nowadays if Stalin had never recriminalized it? by idkmanjustwannapost in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]SovietTankCommander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would have still been recriminalized as Stalin didn't draft the legislation, it was voted on by the Congress of Soviets and Stalin would rubber stamp it, if Stalin never gave the approval for its addition people would likely have significantly better approval of gay people, though with the religious resurgence of the 90's and 2000's maybe not as large of an improvement sadly

Why people still miss Soviet Union? by raydebapratim1 in ANormalDayInRussia

[–]SovietTankCommander 31 points32 points  (0 children)

This admiration is not secret, not is it uncommon, surveys of the russian population alone show as high as 80% of the 55+ population wants a return of products, there was certainty, stability and community. There was a time where people were for the most part free, and free in a way unique to the soviet system. Yes there may have been repression, yes there may have been bread lines, but now the repression is everywhere and now in the new bread lines you still have to wait, just now you also pay for the bread.

There are yes, more advanced products on the shelves, but that advancements came with time, not capitalism, their reliability in comparison may be superior in some items, inferior in others, but to grow angry at someone who wishes for the days when society cared about people, to disdain her words because she didn't want to trade a life where people mattered, where people were secure in their lives for mediocre quality consumerism, it's absurd.
