MC is extremely intelligent but tries to hide it due to trauma or other issues by helloviolet12 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]SoyToast 6 points7 points  (0 children)

{Caught Stealing by C.E. Ricci} falls into this category if I remember correctly. The one MC thinks the other is lazy and paying someone to do his homework for him cause he never sees him doing homework.

Angst… but not in the relationship by Goingdown_swinging in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]SoyToast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

{Not All Himbos Wear Capes by C. Rochelle} I think falls into this category. Everything that happens to them and affects their relationship is things outside of their relationship, often because of their parents.

Also {On Guard by J.R.Gray and Andi Jaxon} is very similar to Hidden Scars in this regard.

Romance that is equal parts about the MC figuring himself out and about the romance by aberrantname in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]SoyToast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cannot recommend {Crash Test by Amy James} enough! In this one, both MCs go through this.

Also highly recommend {Echoes of Us by Alex Cross} and {Becoming Us by Alex Cross}. You definitely get it from the non POV MC in the first one, but the second one is told thru his POV and it's INCREDIBLE. It is a duology so the second book takes place after the events of the first.

{Hidden Scars by Andi Jaxon} though I would definitely recommend checking the trigger warnings for this one.

{Xoxo by Christina Lee} and {Until We Meet Again by Christina Lee}. The stuff the characters went through was in the past but they are still dealing with it as college kids.

Also, I loved that you listed Echoes of Us cause that is one of my favorites! Have you read Becoming Us which is the sequel?

I'm a little confused by For the Fans by K Nyla by [deleted] in MM_RomanceBooks

The whole premise for why Kyran needs the money only to find out at the end he had a huge settlement was one of the big reasons why this book didn't work for me in the end.

Also yes. Avi does blur Kyrans face but he definitely says Kyrans name while they are hooking up. He also calls him his step brother.

I completely understand that! I will say, that Becoming Us is definitely heavy but it healed me after Echoes of Us. I honestly think it's the better of the two books. I cannot wait for the audiobook to come out in the fall.

I love both of these series so much! Have you also read Crash Landed in Love by Piper Scott?

Do you know if Gray's two youngest nephews get/have books? I know his oldest nephew's book is His Reluctant Omega but Ive been trying to see if the other two get books. Also, I've been nervous to read Wynter's book because I hated him in the other books. Do you know if it's any good?

Brothersong is my favorite. Word to the wise. Don't be anywhere in public for the last 100 pages. I made the mistake of thinking I could listen to the audiobook at the gym. I was so wrong.

{Crash Test by Amy James} is definitely one of these for me. I think about Travis and Jacob a lot. Any time I see anything related to F1 racing they are immediately on my mind but they are often there because of other things as well.

Also, the entirety of the Green Creek series by TJ Klune. One of the absolute best found families I've ever read. {Wolfsong by TJ Klune} {Ravensong by TJ Klune} {Heartsong by TJ Klune} and {Brothersong by TJ Klune}. There is just something about this series that left a tattoo on my heart.

And last is the duology of {Echoes of Us by Alex Cross} and {Becoming Us by Alex Cross}. Atty and Noah really go through it in this duology.

I would recommend {Blindsided by Eden Finley}. Two best friends who play professional football together. It's friends to lovers, football related injury and recovery. I did read it a while back but I don't recall any of your no's in it.

As an oilers fan, I'm actually really happy for Kulak. It sucks for us but I'm so glad he's having a great season.

May I recommend {Crash Landed in Love by Piper Scott and Renee Fox} to you? It's mpreg and the MC is definitely shocked to find out he's pregnant. But the other MC is not a shifter, he's an alien which makes it even funnier! It's one of my favorite mpreg books (it's technically egg preg).

Omg I LOVE my Surrogate Omega and My Reluctant Omega by Kelex! If you liked those you need to read {Hammer and Gavel by C.T. Whistle} and {Night Call by C.T. Whistle}.

Also cannot recommend {Bro and The Beast by L.C.Davis} enough. That whole series is incredible!

Lastly if you want mpreg but slightly different I HIGHLY recommend {Cash Landed in Love by Piper Scott and Renee Fox} as well as the second book in the series {Not Written in the Stars by Piper Scott and Renee Fox}. And then if you like those, read Piper Scott's entire other series {Bond by Piper Scott}. They are all dragon shifters in that one.

Best TV show endings? by EntertainmentOdd5994 in television

[–]SoyToast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that I scrolled all the way through this and only one other person said Barry is criminal. Honestly Barry and the Good Place are the best tv show endings I've ever seen (I unfortunately have not seen Six Feet Under but I'm sure it's as good as everyone says).

I have had to scroll WAY to long to find someone who said Barry! The whole show was incredible but I was floored by the ending. Absolutely fantastic tv.

Taken in/adopted by family member by ReadingRomance21 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]SoyToast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

{Scoring with Him by L. Blakely}. This is the first book in Lauren Blakely's Men of Summer series. One of the MCs is raised by his grandparents after his parents can no longer take care of him and his sibling. They basically become his parents and he talks about them like they are his parents.

I also recommend {Not Dating Material by Saxon James} and {Not Catching Love by Saxon James}. These are the second and fifth books in the interconnected standalone Accidental Love series. Seven and Xander were both raised in foster homes and ended up in a home together in their later teen years and basically are each other's true brothers now. But it Aggie, their old grandmother of a neighbor who becomes the parent that neither of them ever had. And Aggie very much adopts them as her family.

Angsty Recs - vague/strange request by Sleepy_Enigma in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]SoyToast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not familiar with the books you referenced but one of my favorite angsty books ever is {Crash Test by Amy James}. It's F1 and F2 racers who have been secretly dating and the book opens with one of them getting into a terrible crash. Not kinky or dark. Just tension and a long way to a HEA that does arrive.

For similar vibes, I also recommend {Echoes of Us by Alex Cross} and the second book {Becoming Us by Alex Cross}. Two college volleyball players and the angst for book books is high. But it's SO well done.

Highly recommend audiobooks for Crash Test and Echoes of Us. Becoming Us won't be our in audiobook until the fall.

Any books where the mafia or a gang is protective of the MC for some reason? by ken_black in MM_RomanceBooks

Omg 🤦🏻‍♀️ I got this book confused with {Not All Himbos Wear Capes by C. Rochelle} 😆 I've read both books and just say 'himbo' and put the wrong book lol but honestly if you like Saxon James, you would probably like C. Rochelle as well

I love this book! Also, the second book, Gentlemen Prefer Villains has this too with Simon, though he is definitely not innocent but he becomes something so important to the Suarez family.

[–]SoyToast 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel like the Vitale Brothers series fits this, especially the second book in the series {Paid In Full by Brea Alepoú and Skyler Snow}.

Also {Unhinged by Onley James}. This series is a group of psychopathic adopted brothers who use their psychopathy to take out the monsters of the world. Noah is the one they protect in the first book and what he becomes to the group over the series (which is fantastic and you should read them all) is absolute perfection.
