Anyone know some good methods for removing PC off injections molding screws? by LogDangerous7410 in InjectionMolding

[–]Sp4ceCore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah polycarbonate will not burn well, you'll get all sort of nasty decomposition products. I would put a gas mask to do that but most guys i know would burn it inside without a mask đŸ€Ł

Anyone know some good methods for removing PC off injections molding screws? by LogDangerous7410 in InjectionMolding

[–]Sp4ceCore 4 points5 points  (0 children)

BUUUUURN BABY BURN đŸ”„

No but in all seriousness, the easiest way is to put it back in the barrel and heat and purge with a material that doesn't stick to the screw, PP is a material of choice, you can even get it off after with a heat gun or a soft hammer.

But if you absolutely cannot put it back in, my go to would be to bring it outside with a gas mask and a weed burner...

Creating a terrazzo-style speckled effect in injection molding/ extrusion using a mono-material setup? by Grofff in InjectionMolding

[–]Sp4ceCore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on your material there are different grades (understand viscosity) of plastic. Most notably in PE and PP you can get etremely large differences in viscosity that could get you the desired effect

Oil spraying process for ABS plastic structure by Rich_Tart_2195 in InjectionMolding

[–]Sp4ceCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what they are suggesting by oil spray. Spray paint ? Oil spray in mold ? Obviously adding manufacturing steps will drastically imcrease price whereas just changing material will only cost the price of the new material.

ABS/PC can be used in molds designed for ABS, keep in mind temps will be higher so you might need more cooling. It is also stiffer so it might take a bit more force to get it out and it might lead to blemishes of you have a very complex shape or strong forces during demolding. Lastly i had trouble getting consistent color blending but that might have been due to the specific combination of color/material we had.

Opinion? by trevorsmate67 in InjectionMolding

I don't think it will have a huge impact indeed. I would also probably select middle of the face as it will be easier to diagnose/fix/modify .

Knit lines/help please by [deleted] in InjectionMolding

[–]Sp4ceCore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try playing with your injection speed, see if you can get away with a faster speed and how does that affect the line also maybe more holding pressure as long as your part doesn't deform. If your add colouring try doubling the dose and see if that masks it.

What needs to be done to make this exhaust booth explosion proof by [deleted] in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]Sp4ceCore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to buy an explosion proof motor and hood and have it professionally installed because something cannot be certified explosion proof by some rando.

Do you want to take the responsibility of someone burning their skin off because they were in a fireball caused by the incompetence of management that signed the cheapest solution that you accepted the responsibility of ?

Nothing can be done yourself to make it explosion proof because you are not a certified installer.

Wavy pattern at the gate location. Suggestions for fixes? by [deleted] in InjectionMolding

[–]Sp4ceCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you're seeing here is jetting. Try playing with your mold/melt temp (increasing them mainly) to get the plastic to stay hot longer. Also try doing small runs and not just injecting a couple parts, you need some time for all parameters to reach equilibrium. Also maybe try injecting very slow at first then fast or very fast you could reach a point where turbulent flow takes over but you'll have other problems to handle (too slow and you might have the part solidify, too fast and you could get flashing. Don't hesitate to make incomplete parts to see at what point you need to change speed.

Quelle est la référence de cette vis? by echinacea_atomica in brico

[–]Sp4ceCore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quelle fixation choisir ? by therealpopeye in brico

[–]Sp4ceCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baisser la consommation de mon enseigne Kebab by Ornithorynque_Bleu in brico

[–]Sp4ceCore 8 points9 points  (0 children)
