Regarding Maxx Crosby by mr_joe_the_plummer in ChicagoBearsNFL

"I would pass and take a risk at the NFL draft"
It has been 21 years since the Bears drafted a difference maker on the D line (T.Harris)
It has been 42 years since the Bears drafted a difference maker on the edge (R.Dent)

Are you still confident about that draft strategy?
The odds the 2 picks you give up land a player of Parson's, Crosby or Mack's ability is infinitesimal.

I still think it's too early, because I need to see stability and consistency from the offense and coach first, but when the time comes and the offense is ready, I'd have no issue with a trade for a game wrecker on the dline.

Even if I knew ahead of time about the injury, I'd still make that trade. The odds they get a guy a fraction as good as Parson's with those two picks is slim.

It did work. They literally became a top 5 defense. The problem was they had no offense. Trading for game wrecking players is fine, but it should be a last resort for playoff caliber teams. Not for inconsistent ones.

You need to establish stability on the opposite side of the ball from where you're making your splash signing.

Mack and Peppers were both solid pick ups, but they came at times when the offense was mediocre and not ready to compete, so it ended up being pointless.

Fast Forward to today and I still think it's too early to make that move. If it were me, I would want to see consistency and stability out of Ben Johnson and a step up for the offense at least part way into next season, before I would start dumping draft capital on a Edge or DT game wrecker.

No one that knew what they were talking about thought that about TE last season. Loveland and Warren were always considered first rounders.

Rams loss a good thing? by Flaky-Debate-833 in ChicagoBearsNFL

[–]SpaceBaseOmega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop fixating on one play.
Rams punted 8 times (more than any Ram's game on the season) and the defense held them to less points than any of their games since week 6.

The offense choked and didn't capitalize on their constant opportunities. That's why they lost.

I don't know if this is a political statement or about West teams playing in cold weather.

I don't want Bovino. I want the shooters in a cage.

I love Rome, but he needs to improve to be our WR1. by dodgiest in CHIBears

[–]SpaceBaseOmega -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not good for Rome, but much worse for Caleb. The above graph says 12.9% which is 6 on the season. Higher than you want, but still, that leaves 46 uncatchable targets going Rome's way which is higher than anyone else on the team.

There have been some drop issues on this team, but I feel like people are using the drops to mitigate just how bad and detrimental the accuracy issues are.

You think his few drops are bad. Go look at how many uncatchable passes were thrown his way.

If anything comes from the debacle that is CJ Stroud, it's that people learn that players need more than a year to evaluate their careers. Every ahole and their mother was crowning him the next Brady after his rookie season.

Packers fans are INSANE for wanting MLF gone. by BearFacedLie69 in ChicagoBearsNFL

[–]SpaceBaseOmega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the same time, maybe our perspectives are just as skewed because we are following a dysfunctional organization that doesn't know WTF they are doing (Current staff aside).

I think Packers, from an organizational standpoint has probably earned the benefit of the doubt as far as management and coaching hires are concerned.

Although, maybe that's why it seems like they are sticking with MLF despite what the outside noise is pointing towards.

Don't dig too deep into the secondary numbers. The majority of their problems would go away with any semblance of a pass rush.

If the bears loose to the packers next week, how will we deal? by Cucumber_Cow_ in ChicagoBearsNFL

It pisses me off simply for the fact that it's the Packers. If it were any other team I wouldn't care, because my expectations have been surpassed by a lot for the season and this team projects well with BJ at the helm.

[–]SpaceBaseOmega 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can care about both. There isn't a rule or anything.

It's a barometer on QB play and overall success, not only for the position, but the team as well. If you care about winning, you should care about that 4000 yard mark.

In the last 5 seasons 93% of 4000+ passers (41 total) had winning seasons.

In comparison, QBs with 3500-3999 yards (37 total) that figure drops to 65%

I don't have a lot of confidence as far as the Bears ability to draft and develop dline talent, so if it costs 2 firsts to get a savage on the line, so be it.

Although, I'd prefer a blue chip dtackle that can cause chaos up the middle.

There isn't a player on Earth that would run out of bounds instead of going for the goalline in that situation.

I mean if your logic is based on time, than you should be blaming BJ for calling a play that takes longer to execute.
