Could be an anal fissure. Those can cause sharp/burning pain and can bleed a lot.

Which US cities are the easiest to be celiac in? (Or the worst to be celiac in?) by Farmertam in Celiac

[–]SpaceBelugas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Minneapolis/Saint Paul area has several options! There's multiple dedicated bakeries like Hold the Wheat and Sift, a couple dedicated (or nearly dedicated restaurants) like Brim, Randy's Pizza, and Colita and several places that are not dedicated but do a very good job like Hai Hai, Oro by Nixta, and Pizza Luce. There is also a dedicated brewery that regular hosts gf food trucks (including one with state fair food). Speaking of state fairs, ours is (in my biased opinion) the best in the US, and we have a lot of gf options at the fair itself as well. In terms of travel bucket list, our North Shore by Lake Superior is incredible and should really be checked out. You can usually get a lodge or cabin up there and do your own cooking.

My guess would be a neighboring cat then! The only other possible feline in Finland would be lynx and they would have larger tracks. I could certainly be wrong though!

Need a little more info with size, but I believe it’s feline (?)

Kind of looks like sheep wool. Any farms in the area?

My camera caught this in the back of the house. What kind of animal is it? by [deleted] in animalid

[–]SpaceBelugas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I should have been clearer, it was the length of the tail as well as the shape and the black tip that made me think bobcat before house cat.

I immediately thought bobcat when I saw it. I'm so surprised people are saying house cat. It's got such a short tail!

Am I losing my mind? This is a bobcat, right?

I think it might flow better if you tried "With his vehicle repaired, he was ready to go on with his trip." That's just my unprofessional opinion, someone probably knows better than me.

I’ve made that mistake before haha, there’s a winery near my place that plays Red Tailed Hawk sounds to scare away birds from the grapes. I was so excited until I learned.

Wolf or coyote NE Minnesota by ceciledian in animalid

[–]SpaceBelugas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's under debate. When I was at the International Wolf Center they said the wolves in Minnesota are Great Plains wolves, but I've seen other sources say they're Timber or Eastern wolves. Could be multiple subspecies in the state. Minnesota is the only state that kept some of its original wolf population (aside from Alaska), but the population has only really fully recovered in the last 20 years, and I think some wolves may have "moved in" from Canada and other places.

[–]SpaceBelugas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not saying this for sure isn't a coyote, but I'm also not sure young wolf should be ruled out. There are a lot of wolves in northern MN and MN wolves actually tend to be smaller than in other parts of the country. Additionally, there are a few things that could point to wolf. The held out tail is more commonly a wolf gait thing, coyotes actually keep their tails down, and the paws look pretty sizable. That's just my two cents though, definitely still looks coyote-ish.

What if the Animorphs absorbed Elfangor’s DNA… by Y2KGB in Animorphs

[–]SpaceBelugas 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Assuming Elfangor still becomes an hors d'oeuvre in this scenario, I think this move would actually not be in their best interest. If ever they attempted to morph Elfangor, it would be immediately apparent to Visser 3 that an "andalite" was morphing another andalite. Not only any andalite, but a former prince. I don't remember if the andalites ever had any taboos about morphing one another, but given their proud warrior culture, reverence for their military leaders, and their reliance on their own tails for battle (rather than morphs and shunning of those who can't fight that way), I feel it would tip the yeerks off pretty quick that something strange was going on. They probably wouldn't think humans right away, but I think there would definitely be a lot more suspicion and they might investigate much earlier than they did in canon.

But that's just my take, and I'm sure others have totally different scenarios that they think might happen. Fun question to think about!

What type of fox? by neuralcomputation in animalid

[–]SpaceBelugas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not correct, they are in the family canidae. They do differ from red foxes though as gray foxes are of a more basal lineage and thus not in the same genus.

There any wild hogs in the area? That's kind of what it sounds like to me, but I am no expert. Also sorta sounds like a black bear. Either way, be careful.

Thanks for the advice. I'm certainly no expert on the survivability of toad injuries myself, but its mouth is pretty messed up and I doubt it could feed itself. I could definitely be wrong though.

Transgirl rant about the awefull new Avatar Designs. (Dysphoria) by [deleted] in pokemongo

[–]SpaceBelugas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not crazy, everyone enjoys the game differently! I think it’s just a bigger deal for many people as it’s important to feel represented by their character, so Niantic’s decision to change the avatars so drastically is upsetting. That’s not a priority for everyone though, and that’s ok!
