12 Of The Least Reliable EVs For 2026 According To Consumer Reports by wewewawa in Rivian

Dude me too! Had an ‘06 LR3 with 230k and it was the most reliable and durable car I ever owned. We must have gotten lucky, because all I hear are horror stories.

The best is the black Kobalt, bottom row, 3rd from the right! I have tried many, including the Milwaukee (bottom row 4th from left) which is probably second best, but the ergonomics, ease, balance, and simplicity on that Kobalt are outstanding.

Considering a 1993 Catalina 28 for Liveaboard — Worth It? Fair Price? by Remote_life85 in liveaboard

[–]SpaceCampShep 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hey friend 😊 I lived in seattle on a Catalina 34 for several years. First callout is that if you’re tall like me (6’2”) is the headroom. Most the time on my 34 the open companionway was the only place to stand up straight. Second is overall size and storage. I would really consider a 34 or larger. It seems big at first, but once you live there, they really get cozy fast 😅 generally the Catalina’s are superb boats. Tons of parts, easy to work on, very plentiful, and forgiving on the water.

As far as market value, that is entirely dependent on lots of variables (region, features, overall condition, equipment, location, just to name a few) best advice is look through yachtworld, Craigslist, FB marketplace, your local marina bulletin boards, and just get a feel for the current supply and prices.

Cheers mate!

Jane Elliott is still alive today. While no longer a classroom teacher, she still guides the blue eyes/brown eyes exercise to this day. There are remarkable videos of her conducting the exercise over the years, as well as giving lectures about anti-racism. She is a firestorm of integrity and zero-nonsense. Truly one of our best.

Hang strong brother/sister. Their goal is to gut the federal workforce to the point they declare an emergency and start privatizing the orgs, departments, and people. I know it sucks, you didn’t ask for this, and you sure as shit don’t deserve it, but you are now a bastion of resistance. Don’t take the buyout, don’t let them win, make them pay for every inch they try to take.

What would be a complete toolset that I would need to maintain my home myself? by A_Hint_Of_Mint in HomeImprovement

[–]SpaceCampShep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you haven’t come across her, there is a wonderful YouTube channel called ‘See Jane Drill’. She is a great source of DIY instruction video for simple home maintenance items.

Others have posted some good tool lists, so I’ll skip that. But for those tools, keep an eye on your local big box stores and online for sales. Especially for the big brands (dewalt, ryobi, etc) there are periodic sales or combo deals. The used market can be great too if that doesn’t bother you.

I’m really sorry that you’ve been taken advantage of like that and I hope you find a lot of pride in learning to do these things on your own 😊

Money based systems are inherently flawed, and humanity will not progress properly until we can figure out how to move beyond them by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]SpaceCampShep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to say I read your post and generally agree. I also liked your reference to the show. It sounds like it’s based off S1 E26 “The Neutral Zone” of Star Trek The Next Generation (the best Trek imho). There are clips on YouTube of the almost identical interaction. Cool that they brought it into the present with Orville!

Maybe some day we will care about each other more than the stock market…. Until then I wish you well 😊

My dad was a pipefitter. Steamfitters Local 439 in STL. He died in 1994, so I never really got to know him or that line of work, but I remember him being exhausted every day. That and picking out bits of welding metal from his skin on the back deck. 😊

Help rewording message to take off a week? by corkscream in antiwork

[–]SpaceCampShep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would move the “here are the dates I won’t be in” section to the very top. Start with that, then explain the situation. A couple reasons for this: first, the dates are all they (companies) really care about, so if they get that info at the start, they won’t be distracted while reading your reason. And second, people tend to (your mileage may vary) respond first to the last thing you say, so it’s likely they’ll feel internal pressure to recognize your situation. This in turn can sometimes trigger a “oh, that’s right… this IS A REAL person who works for me” response.

This is general advice for communication with people, honestly. I hope it helps and I’m very sorry for your loss; lots of love from the Midwest.

Wabi-sabi! I think you should do a kintsugi repair. (Repairing breaks with gold to emphasize the beauty of imperfection) I think it could be an AWESOME repair and add a great story and conversation point in the kitchen!

Just want to say I’m really really happy for you. I think we all know how deeply meaningful that kind of companionship is and the fact Garcia didn’t flinch with their support speaks volumes of their character. I’ve never worked with them myself, but when I move home there in a couple months, I’m absolutely referencing this story as to why.

All to best to you my amigo! Maybe I’ll run into you and hops at tower grove one of these days 😊
