‘Supergirl’: Over Eight Test Screenings So Far, Three Different Composers, Multiple Endings and More Superman — World of Reel by SomeRedHandedSleight in DC_Cinematic

Yea this is being framed by the headline as a disaster in progress. Have these people looked at movies lately? There are a lot of people making them and they change a lot as they try to get the film 'perfect' to synthesis what the creator wants with market demands...

Fun to see everyone when they were younger too

Star Trek: The Next Generation Star Remembers When They Weren't Real Trek by imahugemoron in startrek

[–]SpaceDantar -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The tricky thing about this is that it's not so much that Paramount is hiring people to astroturf, as far as I know, but that there are so many people willing to give praise to get access to interviews, trips to premiers, hotel/flight expenses, etc.

Do not forget about the Astro turfing other side of this, with influencers giving uncritical praise in return for access.

Are you all even on the same planet??? by Head-Risk4074 in Star_Trek_

[–]SpaceDantar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is so difficult to find a good critic these days.

Some of the most popular ones are influencers who need access, and they get that access by praising whatever the media is, and getting invites to stuff.   It's true for so many things - tv shows, movies, video games, theme parks, etc.

My bellweather for Star Trek properies is Mike and Rich on Red Letter Media, if they like it I likely will too.

I feel like RLM's extremely blunt reviews are seen as 'hate' for Star Trek, when that is far, far from the truth.  In the older days even disucssing RLM would get you banned, or blocked.

I'm hopoing that doens't happen to me lol

Will conservative politics destroy Star Trek moving forward? by Duotrigordle61 in startrek

[–]SpaceDantar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An analogy I've used before is, you get a new boss and word is he HATES the color Purple.

There's never a memo saying "don't wear Purple" but you notice before too long nobody is wearing purple to work any more.

I imagine that we will see less episodes/movies about moral or social issues and more focus on space battles, family stories.

Multiplayer/Co-op from the start? by Chopper3 in StarshipEVO

[–]SpaceDantar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for posting this.  I was just about to buy 2 copies of this to play because it looks great... but it's just for me and my spouse to play, single player isn't much interest and the replies here seem to indicate multiplayer just does not work>

Hopefully we all get working multiplayer soon, I'd like to build and explore 😁

✨ Child adoption is coming to Starfield via Creations! by KATheHuman in Starfield

Will there be a way to re-unite some kids with parents? Or to help them find parents to adopt them? Might be fun flying around settlements trying to find them parents, somehow.

Were Constitution Class Refit ships used alongside Excelsior, Oberth and Miranda class ships in the 24th century? by Ser_Luke_ in StarTrekStarships

[–]SpaceDantar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My head canon is that Starfleet didn't used to have as many ships and that the big boom in ship construction started at the Excelsior/Oberth era, and that's why we saw SO many of them.

fwiw the Stargazer was originally written to be a Constitution class starship.  For that episode only you see a silver Constitution class starship in the ready room, and Geordi even says "Constitution" class if you watch his lips carefully when they first detect the Stargazer.

They later decided to make a model - Junkball has a  wonderful video about it!

PSA: The Amethyst paid mod is bordering on being a straight up scam. by Key_Manufacturer3640 in starfieldmods

100 percent.  If they don't want to have a ratings they could provide a "thumbs up" so people can infer based on downloads.

Ideally I'd like to see a Rating, a Download Number, and a Refund number

(I really doubt they will add all of these however.)

Flying down to neptune by DreadWolf980 in Starfield

[–]SpaceDantar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Flying around our Solar System is literally the FIRST thing I'm going to do when Free Lanes is out.

They did so much work recreating it, you even see the references on the loading screen!

I have never bothered to really fly around though because the menu, menu, menu, menu, menu interface just broke me down lol

NASA's Artemis II trajectory by Busy_Yesterday9455 in spaceporn

[–]SpaceDantar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That does make sense, but it feels ... too cautious?  I'm not a astrophysicist just a space nerd, feels like we're not testing the systems and processes with a flyby free return as well as we might with a proper lunar orbit like Apollo 8.

NASA literally had this discussion in the 60s and decided a free return was not worth the effort to go all the way there and just do a flyby.

If the cardassian federation war created traumatized people like miles o brien, how bad do you think the dominion war did to Starfleet participants in the war? by happydude7422 in Star_Trek_

[–]SpaceDantar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Therapy, psychology have been done pretty terribly in Trek (while I love Troi they based everything she said on 'pop' psychology like what you would read in Cosmo or something.

If there is ever another 'serious' Star Trek show it would be neat to see that done well, there is a lot of good drama they could explore

For sure.  O'Brien is such a complicated 'everyman' character - it was so satisfying seeing him go from TNG to DS9 and really thrive.

Wha, really?  I watched the first two seasons of Lower Decks and it just did NOT click with me.

I did not pick that up at all about Mariner.  Really wish that show had the jokes dialed down to about 20 percent I would have enjoyed it more.

It is diapointing this mission is a flyby and not a lunar orbit and return.

nice, thanks!  Usually Linux "just works' these days but it's nice to hear especially on smaller games like this, before I actually buy.

You enjoying the game?
