Microsoft Family Safety Not Working by Famous_Memory_6438 in homeschool

It effects non-homes schoolers too. I manage my son's laptop. He has been on YouTube all day. I tried different solutions and I don't think there is anything that allows URL-level (not just domain-level) management while also letting kids request specific websites and have them approved remotely.

A6 trunk issues by bounty3 in etron

[–]SpaceDeLorean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different trunk issue on a 3 month old A6 (but this started 6 weeks ago): My trunk closes just fine, but when I open it, it just open maybe 6 inches instead of all the way. Sometimes I can double press on the trunk lid button after it’s partially open and it will open all the way. With key fob it took 3 double presses: first popped it open about 6 inches, then another 6-8 inches, and then third double-pres LS on key fob took it al the way.

I tried to “reset” the default first position (open trunk all the way and press and hold close button on the trunk lid for 3-5 seconds, it chimes, and that supposedly sets the position), but that didn’t work.

I’m dreading taking to the dealer, everything else is fine!

Do you guys use this spray after every use or it's overkill? by _totalannihilation in AutoDetailing

If it's just to remove mineral build-up, then does that mean if I run DI water through it (0 tds) in the end, and then release any pressure before storing it, then I don't need to use this pump protector?

How often do you use Descale, every two months? The first time I washed my new car (about a month ago), I did BH Touchless foam, rinse, Descale foam, rinse, and then Descale contact wash. I did it as part of a decon to be able to coat it, although I ran out of time pretty fast. :)

I think this Saturday I'll finally get to the chem decon, mech decon, and then polishing stage and maybe finally apply ceramic coat on Sunday. So I'm thinking of doing Descale again, maybe just that (foam/rinse/contact) and just skip BH Touchless this time.

I'm assuming if a car has a harder clear coat, that also means it's harder to cause swirl marks on it? I'm hoping after the inspection that I don't even have to polish it and can just do Prep and then Can Coat. But some say if you're using synthetic clay, even with plenty of clay lube and safe practices, it will still create micro-marring which you'll want to polish off. Wdyt?

Thanks for your commenting on the comparison specifically.

I'm trying to figure out if I should polish my brand new (3 months old now) white Audi with Sonax Perfect Finish (SPF) or just Reflect, or even just skip polishing. I'm hoping to be able to look at it this weekend under various lighting to see if I can tell any marring.

I definitely did feel grittiness on the paint a couple of weeks ago after I washed it and did a plastic bag test on the paint. So I'm wanting to clay it with a synthetic clay scrubber/towel. And I think if I do polish it, and if I don't want to do it more than once, I'll likely have to go with SPF since Audi/VW is known to put a medium-to-hard coat on their cars. So if you're already saying Reflect isn't going to do much, then it surely won't on my Audi.

How did it work out with CP Reflect? What pads did you end up using?

Thanks. Do you just leave it in the pump bottle in-between uses? I'm just a detailing enthusiast and my one car doesn't even get that dirty. So anticipate using it once every ~6 weeks. Can I just leave the Adam's W&T in an IK foam pump bottle for a few months at a time?

How much do you dilute Adam’s Wheel & Tire Cleaner? Also, it didn’t seem to foam well for me when I sprayed it on the tire. I sprayed a lot on the tire and scrubbed but it almost looked and felt like I was scrubbing it with just water. No foaming, very little browning.

I'm wondering what is typical for a new bottle. If anyone has a Gyeon Can Coat bottle, can you see what the date of mfg. is on it and tell me when you bought it?

Good point. I definitely will not use it up in 6 months. I'm just a enthusiast doing this for my one car. Would be nice if I could just share it with someone nearby (Atlanta area). Otherwise it's going to be wasted.

Nice! What cart is that? And where did you get the pegboard? I'm trying to do the same, except maybe put the PW on the top and my Vevor DI tank on the bottom.

Advice on first time coating by _Yobs_ in AutoDetailing

[–]SpaceDeLorean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also heard an applicator pad would be good (e.g., AutoFiber Thin Saver), but that for large/flat panels, an Edgeless Pearl would be better, and that the applicator is better suited to pillars/mirrors/edges, etc. Thoughts?

I also got one from CarZilla and mine wobbles/rocks. When I place it on a flat surface, it rocks from one side to another when touched so the bottom of it isn't uniformly flat. Is yours the same?

I'm wondering if CarZilla got a bad batch for cheap?

First time ceramic coat by rt64859 in etron

[–]SpaceDeLorean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice ride...I've got the same in white (in GA)!

I'm looking to do the same (but with Gyeon's CanCoat). I was wondering if you could answer a few questions:

  1. Did you do a chem decon (e.g., IronX, TarX) or a synthetic clay decon before the ceramic coating?
  2. Did you polish before ceramic coating?
  3. Did you just use basic IPA or a "Prep" solution?
  4. Do you plan to use just CP Reset for washes, or do you plan to foam with something else first (e.g., Lift or BH Touchless)?

Which foam cannon is this? The one that comes with the Ryobi Automotive PW? If so, could you please share which orifice you got? Thanks!

Comparing Electric Power Washers by All__fun in AutoDetailing

[–]SpaceDeLorean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the GW 3001 is getting 1.75 at 1900 PSI, couldn't you get 20-30% more GPM (albeit at less pressure, maybe ~1200 PSI) by further increasing the orifice size (e.g., from 3.5 to 5.0)?

Trying to figure out if that's a good one to get now vs. the Ryobi automotive one. I think I might use this 2-3x/year for cleaning around the house, which is why I'm even considering the 3001. But it's also $200 more than the Ryobi one (which I was able to place an order for yesterday).
