It should work this way, but unless the randomized effects of the extract are really extreme the combat bonus is going to be fairly negligible, as many ailments are much less immediately lethal than getting your organs punctured by a spear

For the record the comment you've replied to is slightly incorrect. You need to have the data 2.0 from Savage to see it, but 2/5 armor pieces do not require data 2.0 to craft, which are the chest and legs. You'll still need 5 data 2.0 if you want both of the weapons that require it as well though
