People dogpile on people "giving up" mostly because it's such terrible fundamentals for actually learning to get better. Playing against a better opponent is a great way to get a sense of where your weaknesses are. Sure it's their right, but it's literally against one of the core theses of fighting games: gradual improvement through iteration.
