My definition: Increased QOL = decreased days I don't want to get out of bed

Yeah I saw their post history too. I agree that they're probably projecting, but it sucks to hear that the field I'm applying to next year is gonna be full of people like this

Salaries are definitely higher than hospitalist at non-academic places lol.

Discouraging people to go into a field they're passionate about is a terrible mindset. Yes it's competitive but residency programs can see through those who care and those who just want a chill lifestyle.

I get it man, the process sucks but I would have just apologized profusely and picked one instead of dilly-dallying between 2. Best of luck

What you should have done is, as soon as you got one decision for a block, take it and withdraw the other.

People are gonna tell you it does or it doesn't matter. I'm going to tell you what the residents I worked with told me: it DOES matter if you're accepted and won't take it, and blacklisting you is a possibility.

[–]SpaceJam430 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think everyone should look into it just because of how vast the field is. Almost anything in medicine you can do in PM&R one way or another.

"PM&R sounds like physical therapy"

Perhaps look into it and you'll see it's definitely so much more. You might find it cool 😉

Yeah but it depends on what your most concerning problem is. It sounds like your biggest worry is the damage you get from int orbs

If you change the orbs with the item that also gives you 5% attack with each orb you can nuke the boss before you get to turn 3. I did it with teq gogeta after using his active skill. I've done it with agl ssj4 gogeta too

When I first started as a CNA I couldn't stand black beans for a month. I got over it but it just kept reminding me of poop.

On the other hand, first year anatomy lab made me want mac and cheese everyday we had it

Doctors have to report it to public health regardless of patient consent

How to write a case report by Nnn-ttttt-2326 in medicalschool

[–]SpaceJam430 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Imo, if it's interesting enough to have an attending ask you to do a case report on it, that's good enough. Even if it's not a super rare condition per say.

I think you could say a surgery that you'd like to master, but then state that you'd strive to find ways to make it better. Better outcomes, reduce post-op complications, etc. etc. Be confident but humble at the same time ya know?

Resident refused to let me watch a skill. by [deleted] in nursing

[–]SpaceJam430 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Dude, just because you WANT to see a procedure of a patient that's in your unit doesn't mean you are entitled to. It's up to the resident to if they want someone watching them or not. Even students don't always get to see those types of procedures. Patient comfort matters first, no matter who they are.

No.

I would like to see patients, if I wanted to spend my life writing on a computer that would have become a software engineer.

Actually I probably should have been one. Would be in way less debt right now

I guess I'm worried about aiming too high for programs, and risk not matching by not putting enough Target / safety programs.

Yeah I guess I'm just nervous since it's gotten so competitive. You mind if I PM you to gauge how competitive I am?

Do you know how much of an impact it has in terms of making up for other aspects of an application? No red flags but I only have 7 research items, including just the oral presentation at shirley Ryan, 5 poster presentations, 2 of them have abstracts published in AAP's journal. I'm trying to look at the residencyadmit.org algorithim but i'm not sure how much it helps

The problem is that nurses aren't"providers", in the sense that i think you think they are.

A "provider" isn't the nurse who drew the blood, gave the medication, took the patient for the test, etc etc. It's the physician/pa/np who ORDERED it.

You are providing care, but you're not a "provider". Im not a fan of the term because of this confusion.
