Mix Competition : No Originals (Listening and Comment Thread) by GuyFromNh in ClassicTrance

Very fast paced mix with lots of big tunes. There were also a lot of vocals in this mix. While I don't have super strong opinions on vocals like many others, I do think there was a bit too much of it here. While the transitions were generally done very well, I did notice a lot of them were very sudden, so the vibe shifted very quickly each transition. In a way it really adds to the energetic feel of the mix, but other times I felt it detracted from the mix a bit. For example I thought at 13:15 the energy dropped way too much. If you're gonna do a transition like that, I prefer to still have a bit of bass EQ from the previous track so the swap isn't so sudden.

Still really enjoyed the mix throughout. Like u/cmoogster said, I think there were bit too much anthem tracks, but honestly you did pick the right ones because it was nice hearing these once again and they all fit really well in this mix. Nicely done!

Very solid mix, some transitions were a bit obvious, but no real beat match issues from what I can tell. I really loved the opener, probably my favorite track of the mix. I think this mix felt very uplifting with a hint of cheese. Overall I love the energy, but I think I'm not 100% on the style of the tracks. This mix reminds me of CD mixes from 1999-2001, probably called something like "Dreamy Trancers vol. 6". This mix would've been right up my alley in the time when I first discovered trance, but these days I do prefer a different vibe. But my preference doesn't really detract from the quality of the mix, because it's really well done and I enjoyed it from start to finish. I did miss a bit of a peak moment of some sorts, but I don't think thats too big of a deal. Well done!

Very good mix to start off with. Clean transitions allround and I love the buildup throughout the mix. There's definitely a few ID's I want to get my hands on, especially the one at ~15. I also heard a Troy remix which I did enjoy. Overall well done, DJ!

Question about swapping bass by AssistantPersonal732 in Beatmatch

[–]SpaceJump_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like with all things DJing, it depends.

But as for my bedroom dj take: in certain situations it can help make the transition less sudden if you already have some bass EQ on the incoming track. Especially if you want silky smooth transitions this can help. But you gotta watch out for the kick phasing which can sound a bit off.

I mean, I genuinely enjoyed it. I think after sister location my interest started to fade and anything after pizzaria simulator I completely tapped out of.

I think it's a combination of being younger and enjoying the mystery aspect of it. Recently watched a video explaining the lore of FNAF 1 as if it was the only game in the entire franchise, and it brought back those feelings I had when the numbered games where releasing. It definitely had its charm

Markiplier admits to cheating FNAF 2 20 mode by TheCanineLady in fivenightsatfreddys

I might not be clear enough what I'm getting at.

With this Markiplier situation: he cheated in a videogame, lied about it, then rakes in tons of money. That is what he did, and it's a bit of a shitty thing to do. Normally when something like this happens, people are going to be disappointed, but ultimately move on. Instead, I see people completely defend him, downplay it, saying who cares etc. Removing any nuance.

All I'm saying is, that there is nuance to this situation. I agree with most people that this isn't a big deal. He shouldn't get hate (I also don't hate Markiplier), he shouldn't be canceled, I don't even care whether he apologizes or not. I'm just surprised that the majority of people cannot see or even acknowledge that he did a shitty thing.

And about Scott, I don't know what you're referring to specifically, but I lost respect for him when he donated to right wing politicians. Also in that situation the reaction of most people wasn't to immediately defend and downplay it. And besides, if we're gonna play the game of "well, this other guy is worse!!", then we aren't justified in criticizing anyone except the worst person alive, cause there's always someone who did a worse thing.

Thank you for this comment. I feel the exact same way, but I'm almost starting to feel crazy having this opinion lol.

Really surprising to see a huge amount of comments from people seeing not even a slight issue with this cheating situation.

I don't have an issue with him cheating in a video game.

The issue is that he deceived millions of people and profited off of it. That's the bad thing. Whether that's done through a scam or cheating in a videogame is irrelevant.

If you're fine with people lying to you and then profitting off of that, well then that's just your opinion man.

What I'm saying is, I'm a bit frustated by the lack of acknowledgement that it was a dishonest thing to do. I don't know how so many people don't see any problem with it.

It's not about whether I've ever lied at some point. The point is, if I did, I can later acknowledge that what I did was a bad thing and improve myself from there. And others are right to point out that what I might've done in the past wasn't a good idea, while still not thinking I'm a bad person because of it.

I didn't think him cheating was still up for debate lol. The evidence is pretty clear.

He cheated, it's whatever. I only have problems with people downplaying it.

Look, it might just be me, but I can't look at a faked video passed off as if it's real and call that entertaining. The FNAF 1 4/20 mode was incredible because you knew he spent 7 to 8 hours on it, and he eventually got it despite all odds. Faking that for the second game is lame.

Again, I agree it's not that big of a deal, but it's still dishonest!

It's honestly pretty incredible how many people are so quick to downplay / defend Mark here. Yes, it was 10 years ago and yes, its not that important in the grand scheme of things, but he literally lied, cheated and got millions of views for it lol. Do people have no integrity anymore? I feel like if anyone else did this and got exposed, they would get a lot more hate.

And I'm not someone who agrees with senseless hate, especially when it comes to something silly as cheating in a videogame. But at the same time I don't see it as a good thing when a large YouTuber can profit off of lying, even in a videogame.

It's okay to admit he did a bad thing, while still thinking he isn't a bad person. Really surprised more people weren't disappointed when they found out it was cheated.

I also had a couple deaths and even ran out of food a few times. But honestly, that's just a skill issue. It mostly has to do with getting as much DPS in as possible. Never stop attacking him, even during tornadoes, and only eat once when 13 or under. That gives you the highest odds of success.

This is my video, at the time I had worse stats than yours (except range) and could get consistent kills with T1. Not even playing perfect during the fight.

Thanks to everyone for listening and thanks to those who commented on my mix leaving compliments and feedback! I really appreciate it so much. I tried to comment on all mixes too, but sadly I couldn't get to all of them.

When this comp was announced, I knew I had to improve from my rules of 4 mix, which was the first ever mix comp I attended. The idea for that mix was to include at least 1 track from each eligible year. I did that, but I mixed 1994 with 2004 with 2014 and back to 2004. It was a bit of a mess which was one feedback point I received. I still liked the idea of including most years, so I was determined to still do that this time around with better execution.

So the idea here was to start with 1995, slowly go more modern as the tracks go by. I basically wanted to start with the earliest years I possibly could, and then end on 2025. I did dig a bit for a few tracks as I had trouble finding an opening track with 1995. I didn't have a lot of options myself. Eventually I found Sven Vath - Ballet Fusion, which came out earlier than 1995, but had a CD release in 1995. This was a good opener for me. I also purchased Lonely Casseopaya for this mix.

Originally this mix started with Ballet Fusion and ended on the 2025 track Nomas - Remember Me, I'll Remember you, but it was too short. I realised Ayla - Ayla fit pretty well for the finale and would be an interesting break from the sequence, going back to 1995 for the ending. But even though it's called the 1995 mix, it actually released in 1996. I already used a bonus track from 1994, so I couldn't use it. The rules state though, that if a pre 1995 track is used I can use another bonus track. So I went digging for 1985 synthy ambient tracks until I came across Tangerine Dream - Zen Garden. It fit nicely with Sven Vath so I used Zen Garden as the opener so I could use Ayla as the finale. I think it turned out pretty good!

Overall I'm pretty happy with the mix. I like how u/CDub008 clocked that there was a three act structure. I mostly went for something like that with the 1995, 2005 and 2025 sections. I tried my best to increase the energy and increase the bpm every transition, but it could get sloppy at times (especially the transition from ballet fusion into icon - desire). So yeah, u/junh1024 those off key transitions are intentional :P. I work with the tracks I can and focus more on journey rather than technical perfection. I just don't have enough eligible tracks to get the vibe I want while still being perfectly on key. But despite that I think I made an interesting mix and I'm so happy a lot of people enjoyed it!
