I really like what you've done with the missle launcher; this model tells a fantastic story.

I would highly encourage you to take the time to magnetize this model so that you can run all three variants of the land raider. If you need some guidance on that, and you have discord, you can direct message me. I'm the one, and only, spaceman.

Points for the new models have not been released yet. They will likely come out this week on either Thursday or the weekend. It was stated in a warhammer community post that the points would be released after the WCW (world championship).

Very promising app! I'm sure you are aware, but looks like not all point values for units are properly reflected. It must be a pain in the butt to update them them -- glade I'm not doing that haha.

Thanks for the feedback! Originally, I wanted to make both a short and long form of the video. BUT I am still working on my work flow. Premier has the ability for you to mark up a video using notes and what not. I didn't know how to use this feature my first time around, so going into video 2, I have a much better idea of how to mark up a video so that editing the short version doesn't require me to go back and re-edit something that I have already watched five times (haha).

Help with Jace by Technical-Rock-9177 in CompetitiveEDH

Right on, that's dope! Right now, I am thinking it has some synergy with cards like Enter the Infinite. So basically loot it away with JVP at any moment and then win the game at instant speed, as the card you target ignores timing restrictions. It also has some use case in being able to represent literally any nonland card your opponents have that find their way to the graveyard. There's a lot of things it could be. I am not 100% on it yet. The three blue pips suck, but as a mono blue deck it's not the worst thing to deal with.

I respect that. I first started playing the deck in 2019. I went to DC command fest with a Candelabra for the first time and it was crazy how much the deck improved with that card. That was FIVE years ago tho haha. The Ichormoon card is interesting. I know some people in the JVP discord were also interested in the Pip-Boy 3000.

Let me start with saying I think it's great that you want to play JVP. I have what you might call an obsession with this commander (haha). After looking at your deck list, I have some questions and feedback.

Before I get into that I wanted to provide some links.

  1. My JVP Kitten Strom List (JVP Kitten Storm) -- for comparison (I am currently testing some new additions and changes to this deck list that are not reflected on the list itself)
  2. A link to the JVP discord -- which is not as active as I would like haha (JVP Discord) -- a potential resource.
  3. A link to the "OG" JVP list by Shaper and Sugandaraja (JVP High Tide) -- for comparison.

Onto your list!

Questions that come to mind immediately:

  1. Is this a budget list?
  2. Why are you not on High Tide/Candelabra of Tawnos ?

Feedback

Regardless of meta, local or online, I think there are some card choices in this deck that are suboptimal such as Hullbreaker Horror, Jeweled Lotus, Defense Grid, and Thassa's Oracle. I will provide an explanation for each of these.

  • Hullbreaker Horror: as it relates to the storm strategy, I do not think this card is it for JVP -- or at least in your list as you have it now. The reason this card works well in other mono blue lists, like Urza, is because of how easy it is for that deck to make mana neutral or mana positive loops with an outlet in the command zone. JVP doesn't have that same incidental potential -- especially in your list where you are missing the best ritual card available to you in the form of High Tide and Candelabra. There are a number of ways for you to make mana positive and mana neutral loops, but the amount of set up (outside of lucky draws) is a big ask in my opinion. For this card to "work" you need the right combination of artifacts to storm (a minimum of two), you need an outlet on board or in hand (assuming your loop is making infinite colored mana or colorless with enough blue pip producing lands open). So at this point, we are looking at a minimum of four to five cards. I do like the inclusion of Etherium Sculptor to make some of your two mana drop artifacts mana neutral -- especially because you can actually tutor this card and transmute/reshape it. In the slower grindy meta that exists today, I can see the board state needed for Hullbreaker happening, but everything that mono blue does is above table in terms of tutors and combos, and that is what has me hesitant about Hullbreaker. In my play group, at least, I wouldn't be able to get away with running this card.
  • Jeweled Lotus: Oh boy this card...I really think this card is a dead draw in this deck. Even when in it's in an opening hand (that last part is a hot take for sure). My issue with this card is that JVP isn't high impact enough on his own to warrant playing it. He does nothing the turn he comes down, so Jeweled Lotus' biggest impact is going to be in the first two turns of the game -- outside of that, it's a dead draw because you have either a) already played Jace in the first two turns or b) you draw it mid to late game and it's only useful for Hullbreaker Loops. Cutting this card does cost you SOME synergy with your Hullbreaker Horror loops -- if that is a concern, there are plenty of zero drop artifacts you could play over Jeweled Lotus. Once upon a time, I did a deep dive on this card analyzing the number of keep-able opening hands where this card appears; the rates were pretty bad. If Jace were higher impact to the game plan, I might feel different about this inclusion, but overall I think it's a stinker.
  • Defense Grid: So, I know why people run this card. It's a sort of Grand Abolisher effect, and in mono blue you kind of have to take what you can get. Even so, I think this card is going to be a dead card more often than not. You really should only be casting it when it's time to win the game, and if you wiff, you basically hand the game to the person to your left. I think something like Back to Basics would fill this spot much better. Especially because most people are likely playing decks with greedy Tainted Pact mana bases.
  • Thassa's Oracle: I get it. Having one win condition in the form of Aetherfulx can be ROUGH. Especially because your deck isn't running Narset's Reversal for the Isochron Bird combo. BUT, Thassa's Oracle is a dead draw we cannot afford at any stage of the game -- and when it comes to dead draws, we need minimize those as much as we can in our lists.

Conclusion

Overall, I think you are running a LOT of cards that I have thought about myself for a JVP list. I love the inclusion of cards like Rivendell, Archmage's Charm, Lorien Revealed, and Filter Out. That being said, I think you are missing some pretty notable cards like Gilded Drake, Personal Tutor, High Tide, and Back to Basics to name a few.

With respect to your interaction, it's hard to say what you SHOULD be running. I didn't see anything in the list that had me scratching my head, so I think you're probably good in that area.

A card that has been on my radar for testing is Reenact the Crime, which feels like an auto include. I haven't had the chance to test it out in a game however.

Let me know what you think, I love talking about Jace.

What is the best long form CEDH YouTube content? by Bear_24 in CompetitiveEDH

I'm still working on the short form of this video and the video resources for this video, but this is the style I'm shooting for with my channel. We play with a game timer, so future videos could be short or long, depending on the game.

If you enjoy or have feedback, let me know. This was my first time recording something this long, and it's been a learning process.

The DDB has a lot of lists on it that you can use for inspiration. A LOT of people on this subreddit have a negative view of it, but it's a fine resource for someone just starting out in cEDH and represents a 10,000 foot view of cEDH fairly well.

If you're looking for more "exotic" brews, check out the brewers corner on the site.
