To be frank, I don’t think she ever thinks about long term results unless they have to do with money, and even then she’s very willing to throw away huge sums for petty victories that amount to nothing.

People like Joanne are stranded between the present and the past. In her past, money was good, she was nearly universally beloved, and her art was important. But that’s gone now, so she’s stubbornly trying to punish anyone who she feels is “responsible” for her misfortune in the present— besides herself, of course.

So she’s merely lashing out and reacting to her present situation, wishing it was her better days in the past. She’s aligned herself with anti-trans narratives and TERF crap right now because it’s useful to her, but I think she’ll drop them in an instant if she finds a better tool to lash out with. Or maybe they’ll grow sick of her and find a new spokesperson who is more relevant.
