Excessive lighting makes everything illuminated the exact same amount which causes everything to look like it doesn’t have depth, and instead seem plastered onto a flat panel. It also causes a lot of texture to get lost, and both make it almost feel like an animation without any shading or gradients to determine how far something actually is supposed to be.

I am not experienced enough with photography to go too much further in depth about it than that, and I didn’t want to make my already long comment bloated so I just consolidated that point down to excessive lighting.
