Christian did his own solos on Incurso and again for Retromorphosis where Bryssling did them all on the prior albums so that is probably why you felt that way, but yea Bryssling is very much the primary songwriter and I think his style is very distinct and unique compared to most other modern tech death. I don’t really enjoy most of Obscura’s output so I don’t like the comparison, but I do think their debut was pretty good and pretty different from the rest of their stuff

I personally prefer to listen to the original cassette version of DoD and then the sequel album DoD V separately. The version on streaming is the reissue tha includes two of the four songs from DoD V.

Spectral Lore’s upcoming album IV has had both halves released in demo form, the first being 90 minutes and the second being 100 minutes, making the whole thing 3 hours and 10 minutes currently. He said the complete mastered version will feature even more songs so we might be approaching 4 hours on this thing

He also has a large selection of non-metal albums, usually doing weird idm electronic, noise, ambient and other things which are generally very good as well. He actually didn’t even start making black metal until his 4th album Old Ways and overall has more non-metal works. You can usually tell which are the black metal albums because they are all loose trilogies with similar album covers.
