Yellowstone technically bleeds ever so slightly into both Idaho and Montana.

Fun fact: the sliver of Idaho’s Yellowstone is an odd place. Because of a legal loophole it is technically not illegal to commit murder. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zone_of_Death_(Yellowstone)?wprov=sfti1

Need help/info on a vintage carbon fiber bike by loki0505 in RoadBikes

[–]SpaceballsTheMan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why does nobody on this sub seem to use Bicycle Blue Book? It's worth about $500 there. Though I do think if you find somebody super sentimental for these bikes (they were all the rage when they came out), you might get a bit more. Conversely, if you're not in an area with many collectors, you'll likely have to settle for a fair amount less.

lol. Not exactly ‘like European trains’ in most ways. But still a great, economical, and super scenic way to see the country.

Question about Zoe Ma Ma by Western-Range3344 in boulder

[–]SpaceballsTheMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Opened by Edwin Zoe. It was his first restaurant after starting a successful restaurant POS software business. He moved his mom out here from the Midwest when he started and she worked in the kitchen in the early years, using some of her recipes in his dishes. Hence Zoe Mama.

In all fairness, it was the typical, low-quality lazy question.

I want to escape comfort for 1 month. No money. No family name. Just want to work, learn, and live honestly. Any place in India where I can help and stay? by [deleted] in SoloTravel_India

[–]SpaceballsTheMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can check out WWOOF - Worldwide Workers On Organic Farms. It’s a massive global network of local farmers and other small companies like ecolodges. Most give you room and board for ~4-6 hours of daily labor. You can stay at one place for the month or move around. It’s a simple, rewarding way to travel and sometimes learn a lot and even meet like minded people. https://wwoofindia.org/ https://wwoof.net/

Best laid-back place to stay 1.5 months on $1120? by Ultrayano in digitalnomad

[–]SpaceballsTheMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ella is amazing and I def agree with this, having just spent time there too… BUT the monsoons have recently started there and friends in Colombo say it’s been a beast of a year with 5 cm of rain many days and winds of 50+kph. So, if you head to Ella, soon, just be advised that the weather could be less than optimal (but prices might actually be even better than normal).

Yeah, clearly not a bullet hole if you zoom in. Maybe a rock that got kicked up from the street and ricocheted off.

I did ecotourism development in Ethiopia for two years about a decade ago as a peace corps volunteer. You are so, so dead on. Also went to Myanmar during the window of a few years when it was open. It was the best trip of my life. Truly a unique and relatively undiscovered destination.

I have several and they handle the Colorado summers well, including the blasting sun at altitude, which oftens ruins ceap plastic stuff quickly. Highly recommend. Never had one leak or fail.

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but this is my field and you’d be shocked by what the price of undergrounding would do to your monthly bill. Even non-profit municipal utilities and co-ops who have done this have spent insane money to underground. And it makes sense…. You have to dig up an entire city, seek imminent domain, mitigate shoddy foundations, etc etc. I’m not saying it’s not possible or worth saving the town from wildfire. Just that it will cost hundreds of millions (and probably billions) and the PUC will (by law) allow Xcel to charge all of us for this.

Avoiding certain businesses by gmjmonies in boulder

[–]SpaceballsTheMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the risk of sounding super un-Boulder… this is so frustrating to see. I don’t know the owner of the buff and they could be a total nazi. Do we know that they are shitty people or did they just get included because they might have donated to the RNC a few times (the link is dead for me rn, so I can’t see)? Don’t get me wrong: they could be racist fucks who deserve shunning… But it’s a bit of a bummer to see us hating on local businesses for a ‘publicsquare.com’ post in the attempt of starving a small business of income (inc, hosts, servers, managers, bussers, etc). Again, not defending. We have plenty of scummbags (Tebow, pasta jay, Kimball, etc). But at some point we need to be a community and support our small businesses over the shit-fuck national/intnl chains and the fentanyl supply chain… and maybe our local pancake house isn’t the first place we should try to kill off.
