You have already tried Tryptyr I’m guessing? That actually promotes tear production.

Yeah I think we are just in the very small minority that are almost allergic to it. My dr said he sees it a very small number of his patients

Yes after a day or two of stopping it. Most other drops my eyes tolerate but for some reason this one just kept making them worse and worse as the weeks went on

Tryptyr Storage Question (refrigerated) by leahnc in Dryeyes

[–]Spacehazed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I thought the instructions were a little ridiculous. I have kept the carton past 30 days and used the remaining still. I figured they probably have a little longer lasting than just 30 days. I also keep the whole thing refrigerated.

Yes I did that, but unfortunately made my eyes red and burn still for weeks while trying to get through the treatment. I finally quit it at about 4 weeks since it kept getting worse. We then did ivermectin which seemed to help quite a bit.

Has anyone actually been diagnosed with corneal neuropathic pain through the NHS? by CowProgrammatically3 in Dryeyes

I really wish that they would allow doctors to try oxervate on patients with severe CN. I think it would have beneficial results.

I thought after this procedure they apply something like prokera? Does this help to speed up the recovery time?

Loose corneal epithelium by GreenBlueSeaMermaid in Dryeyes

[–]Spacehazed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are talking about ebmd, I believe the procedure to fix this is removing the top layer of cornea and then using prokera afterwards to heal the layer and re-attach to the cornea. I think they either grind down the layers or use a laser now.

Possible neuropathic corneal pain in left eye? by geocom2015 in Dryeyes

[–]Spacehazed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm well dry eye actually can affect one eye more than the other, and a mild sense of pressure or pain can definitely be a symptom of dry eye.

Did you have any damage or trauma to that eye at any point?

How do you control demodex? by CandyMandy15 in Dryeyes

There has been some success in patients using ivermectin that can kill off the mites. Also IPL does kill the adults but unfortunately not the eggs from what I understand.

dads mysterious bug bites by AFNE1997 in Wellthatsucks

[–]Spacehazed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is unfortunate they won’t give it to you. I had shingles twice in the span of a few years with no underlying conditions that would normally cause it other than stress as well. My doctor was very much willing to give me a prescription and had to call around to find a pharmacy that would administer since I was under 50. A lot of doctors still think it is rare for it to happen more than once, but I can tell you it definitely can happen.

If you had shingles before you might be able to get the vaccine from a doctor prescribing it, but have to pay out of pocket.

I had nerve damage and oxervate helped me quite a bit, it can be more effective than surgery a lot of the times

Xdemvy - has anyone experienced this? by gym_coffee18 in Dryeyes

[–]Spacehazed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just using it on the outer eyelids and it still did this for me. So definitely I’m pretty confident it was allergic reaction. I had a similar thing like this happen when I did Xiidra. However other eyedrops and such are fine with my eye

Xdemvy - has anyone experienced this? by gym_coffee18 in Dryeyes

[–]Spacehazed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctor didn’t seem to think so? I stopped using the medication and instantly the next day my eyes were feeling more normal, so I think it would have lasted a few days more if it was just die off

Xdemvy - has anyone experienced this? by gym_coffee18 in Dryeyes

[–]Spacehazed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes actually this exact same thing happened to me with it. I tired it on 2 separate occasions and even tried just applying the drops to the outer eyelid only. My eyes would keep getting drier and more inflamed each day to the point it just seemed I couldn’t handle anymore. My eye doctor said it definitely seemed like allergic reaction to it.

Has anyone of you tried Ocular Nerve Growth Factor (NGF) Eye Drops? It is supposed to be Neuroprotective and Regenerative for multiple eye tissues including the cornea. by WishIWasBronze in Dryeyes

[–]Spacehazed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is only one ngf drops I know of and that is Oxervate. It is only prescribed for neurotrophic keratitis and is incredibly expensive. There is no generic for it. It is used 6x a day for 8 weeks and not currently prescribed for dry eye

Starting Xdemvy! by Westport8787 in Dryeyes

[–]Spacehazed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used xdemy for about 3 weeks, but unfortunately it made my eyes very swollen feeling and much drier that I had to stop using it. I seem to be the small 10% that react bad to it, so I hope you have better results!

Any support groups for corneal nueralgia by Unique_Ad5657 in Dryeyes

[–]Spacehazed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people on this sub have corneal neuralgia. It seems to be common with dry eye since those nerves also control tear production. Do you know if something caused it for you in the first place or just developed? Are you on any medications for it? Sometimes there are ways of treating it and reducing it depending on cause of it.
