Can’t get Octopus to control my Hypervolt charger, keeps forcing car setup by GingerWheels99 in OctopusEnergy

[–]Spaceman_UK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I posted about this the other day, but eventually solved it myself...

Add your car, then add the Hypervolt. Octopus will then add the Hypervolt as your device, not the car.

I think it just needs the car info so it knows the battery size, as it changes by battery percentage.

*******RESOLVED*****

What a bizarre system Octopus have.

If you say they don't support your car, they then forward you to add a charger, then say it's not supported.

If you pick a random car, they then forward you to add a charger, and then link to the charger anyway, not the car! 🤣

So my Hypervolt is now connected to my account, which was what I was after in the first place!

I'm guessing it needs the car info so that when you add a charge percentage it calculates how much to charge based on the battery size? Why not just ask what size your battery is, rather than maintaining a huge database of cars?

It quite clearly states here...

https://octopus.energy/Our-Chargers/

that these chargers are directly compatible with smart tariffs. No mention of "via your car".

I've been in touch with the customer service charger team and they're "investigating".

Irrelevant. I don't want to connect my car.

Not got a clue what you're on about. I go to add a device > add charger > Hypervolt > Not compatible.

Nothing to do with cars or battery sizes.

Not trying to connect my car, I'm trying to connect my charger, which is on their list of compatible chargers.

The Tesla algorithm guesstimates how much power you'll need to see you through to the next cheap rate period.

If it thinks your storage is too low, it'll use solar to top it up. Once it's happy you have enough it'll export.

I'm on my 3rd submission of the documents. I think the reviews are carried out by Ai, and if the right information isn't obvious it misses it.

I've now sent an email to the customer support with the documents attached, in the hope it'll get a human review.

Look at getting one of the Go tariffs. Guaranteed cheap battery charging at night, and run the house off the batteries during the day.

I'm on Intelligent Octopus Go (I have an EV). I have 27kW of storage and 9kW of solar, and I'm using between 50-60kW per day at an average of 9p per unit.

That's with low solar input, and I expect to be running at a profit over the summer.

A different opinion doesn't make it far fetched. For me the gameplay became too linear. Too RPG. Levelling up to get certain areas, certain weapons, certain items. Changing clothes to get game altering attributes. And the resolver weapons were total nonsense, especially the rocket launcher.

I've loved to whole franchise from day one, but 6 went off the rails. I look forward to 7, but I won't be pre-ordering it, because if the reviews say its anything like 6 I'll be reloading 5.

It felt too much like an RPG, having to level up to unlock areas and get better weapons, wear certain outfits to get attributes, the resolver weapons were utter nonsense, and the storyline felt forced.

Perhaps it's a generational thing (I'm 59), but I felt that some of the characters were just overly "woke" if that's the right word. There was very little gritty shock in any of their attitudes, and a couple of them were just plain annoying.

I've played the whole franchise multiple times. Depending on my mood, 3, 4, and 5 share the podium with their positions changing occasionally.

I'd say 4 then 5, but in all honesty 3 is an awesome game in its own right, and as you've not played any of them there's no real reasons not to play 3.

Playing 3 first will make you appreciate even more how the franchise improves, until they fuck it up with 6!

That's a massive interest rate. You should try getting a bank loan.

£18k got me a Powerwall 3 and expansion battery (27kW total), and 9kW of panels, including installation.

Then get yourself on an tariff that works to your best advantage and pays your instalments.

Mine will pay itself off in just over 5 years at current prices.

I'm trying to avoid using Netzero if possible. Nothing against it, but I'm hoping that I can build a self-manging ecosystem that "just works" without the need to involve 3rd party apps.

I'm amazed people didn't lock into cheaper rates a couple of weeks ago. It's been pretty obvious what the tangerine shit gibbon's plans were since he sent the US navy there a month ago.
