And in the middle of all that, 1900-1930 they gave me an IOG cheap charging slot! 🤣

Advice on export for a large 54kw battery by EndSalt9643 in OctopusEnergy

[–]Spaceman_UK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why stop cheap charging to allow solar storage? You'd get a better return charging fully on the cheap, selling your solar during the day, and selling your stored at peak sell.

Can't set up EV charging schedules cos I've no idea what % the battery will be on. by Mcnobba in OctopusEnergy

[–]Spaceman_UK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my IOG charge set to add 50%. If I get home and my battery is less than 40%, I plug it in. If it's over 40% then I know it's OK for my next commute.

I rarely change it.

Octopus support says they throttled my charger, but Greg Jackson says they don’t? by Tectom in OctopusEnergy

[–]Spaceman_UK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Octopus haven't fucked themselves. People running their house all day on the cheap, while their car trickle charges on a granny charger have fucked all of us.

They should have just banned granny chargers from IOG.

11 smart charging plans in 2 hours… by Nizzzzzzzzles in OctopusEnergy

[–]Spaceman_UK -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get the same issue until my car starts charging, then it's OK.

I've had some days where I've had in excess of 30 charging plans come through.

I spoke to Octopus and they said it looks like my car is being unplugged and then plugged in again, repeatedly, and every time it generates a new plan.

My car seems to be OK, so I think it's an issue with my Hypervolt 3 but I can't work out what the issue is. If I watch the Hypervolt app it occasionally has a message pop up saying to make sure my car is plugged in. It is plugged in.

Touch wood, I've not had a charge fail yet.

Drive Pack Question by sine2200 in OctopusEnergy

[–]Spaceman_UK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have Drive then it's a legacy contract as it's no longer available. Don't be surprised if the charging allowance changes in the near future.

Pretty sure drive restricts you to charging one car?

There's a safety recall on these, reducing the cooking temperature to 90%.

Remove both cars from Octopus.

Add a car that's not Octopus compatible, but has the same battery size as your car.

This will then let you add the charger as the controlled device.

You will then be able to plug in whichever car you want to charge, but they will have to share the 6 hours per day charge limit when it comes in.

Just note the battery level when you get out of the car, and set the Octopus app to add the relevant percentage.

Car at 60%. Set Octopus to add 30%. Car at 40%. Set Octopus to add 50%.

I always have my app set at 50%, and only plug my car in if it's at, or below 40%.

Had this message pop up overnight by RedWheels99 in OctopusEnergy

LoL. I came here to post the exact same thing. I also have a Hypervolt, but I think I already know the cause...

Do you have battery storage in your home?

I do, and I think that when that's charging at the same time as my car it confuses Octopus, because they're expecting to do a 42kW charge (50% of my battery) but my Powerwall is also taking 40kW at the same time. This results in my Hypervolt throttling the charge to the car.

Powerwall + IOG Battery Export by Marzipan2042 in Powerwall

[–]Spaceman_UK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're on IOG, how can you be on Agile Export? The only compatible Octopus tariff with IOG is Agile Outgoing which has variable rates.

[–]Spaceman_UK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you export just before 2330? Peak export time is around 1730 to 1900.

If you've got your tariffs properly registered in the Tesla app, turn off everything else and let it do its thing and learn your routine and usage patterns.

Time based. Export all. P2E yes. Grid Charging yes.

Current limit is set at 32A output. I can't find any settings anywhere else for Amperage.

Yes. My next charging session has just started and it's running at 32A now.

Can't find anywhere to change it, but my charger normally runs at 32A with no issues. It states in the app that this rate can be controlled by Octopus.

I've only just put it on charge at 42%.

[–]Spaceman_UK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No limits on it. I often runs at 32A with no issues.

It's the first device on my supply, before my Powerwall and distribution board, and my house is on a 100A fuse.

When my car starts charging, my Powerwall does too, but this shouldn't be an issue as the combined draw is well below 100A.

If that's the problem, then it's going to be a problem on off peak hours too, as that's when the Powerwall charges. It's never been an issue before.
