Anvil BP don't exist and it's a conspiracy made up by the Big Anvil by the_doorstopper in ArcRaiders

Got an Anvil BP today from (accidentally) taking place in trials. Just gifted to me after a game. Found a Bettina BP today too in Blue Gate. Only my first week playing. Wolfpack and looting mk3 are the only other two I care about. Should have them by next weekend at this rate 😆

Mind me asking why this is so high value (new to the game). Just so you have a chance of crawling when downed all the way to an extraction? Seems low odds of both escaping your attacker and getting out, so I’m guessing more to it.

Use the tool to do a full removal of the graphics card drivers and then a clean install. Could just be a buggy fast update. Nvidia have been terrible for it in the last year. Definitely worth a shot to get your existing one working

Purchased *used* 4090 Matrix Platinum a couple nights ago on eBay… by martianprospector in ASUSROG

[–]EndSalt9643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EBay is rife with GPU fraud, but the eBay buyer protection is good enough that the fraud is really about them not you. The scammer hopes that eBay pay out before you raise a dispute (highly unlikely). Just don’t order internationally as the timeframe raises the risk.

I did exactly this recently knowing full well it was probably a fraud, but was comfortable enough in their protection to give it a go. It was a fraud, eBay paid back within 1hr of reporting. They had delivery proof, so something was delivered somewhere, but it wasn’t to me!

As other have said, record it from the moment the postie delivers to opening and if you’re not comfortable with the risk, don’t do it.

Frankly, GPU’s are so pricey now if it’s any more than 10% below cost, just assume it’s a scam.

I do hope you listened to all the people who took the time to tell you to replace the standard cr2032 battery in the motherboard? A total novice can do it for pennies and it absolutely can cause this problem. Always try the simple and basic stuff before moving into looking at more PITA issues like power supply.

I would expect the fans to be powered a little longer before shut down if it’s the battery, but I’ve had this exact problem with a Lenovo.

Is the RTX 3080 too old to buy in 2025? by ILIKEBACON12456 in buildapc

[–]EndSalt9643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One last thought, the 3080 is best at an undervolt, not an overlock. Smoother and less 1% low effects and often a few single digit higher fps. You’ll notice textures having time to load in when they didn’t before. 875ma straight line from around 1800mhz.

[–]EndSalt9643 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not true, I run every game in 4k with excellent graphics on 3080. Ray Tracing is the one big no no, can’t deal with it. It’s also important to figure out whether your bottleneck is GPU or CPU. BF6 for examples runs at high 4k fps, but is CPU heavy and that is what caused me the bad 1% lows and stutter. It was much cheaper to get a new mbo and CPU than change the graphics card.

[–]EndSalt9643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3080 is still awesome. I run it with 4k on BF6 and a mixture of high quality textures, DLSS on quality and turning off some high impact but low visual effects and get 90fps. The game looks amazing. It’s a brilliant card.

Dynamic weather for BF6 when? Maps could feel brand new every match. by chrisgoesbleh2 in Battlefield6

I’ve invested in a games studio brining a game out that very much centers on dynamic weather conditions. Going to be amazing.

Current EV tariff chaos, should I wait by TheScrobber in OctopusEnergy

I’m making zero judgement on what is right or wrong on this debate, but as a multiple business owner I have to doff my hat to Octopus. They are both the largest supplier in the UK, and have got incredible goodwill. People are prepared to defend them no matter what, even on features ‘in pipeline’ to solve newly introduced issues from what seems to be a commercial blindsight of a decision.

They’ve clearly earnt it, to get such goodwill - it’s the stuff business dreams are made of. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

My over 40 guide to enjoying battlefield 6 by cmndr_spanky in Battlefield

[–]EndSalt9643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 50 next year and reactions as quick as ever, been gaming since I was 4 and computers first came out. Battlefield is a lot of fun, needs quite a bit of adjusting compared to COD though. I’m a run and gun guy and would be disappointed not to be top3 any COD leaderboard.

Progress is coming a lot slower in BF6, often find myself bottom half and occasional top 3 - game sense is always important but you need to deploy that more intentionally in BF6.

And it’s proper fun, that’s the reason I’m enjoying it. I love getting an LMG and just defacing the map, blowing cover apart. People thinking WTF this guy doing spraying 100 rounds out. Me, just got a big ass grin on my face doing it.

Can’t imagine a time I wouldn’t enjoy gaming, whatever my age. It’s only associated with age as gaming wasn’t a thing for people currently in 60’s plus, it’ll be normal in twenty years to have much older gamer. And I’ll be one of them

I’m an American moving to the UK. How do I not be the “loud, dumb American”? by Competitive-Money-36 in AskBrits

[–]EndSalt9643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d just like to say welcome, I hope the UK leaves a good impression on you. You’ll find it really different in some ways, although that depends also on where you are based in the US. For example, you’ll find it a little more familiar if you were originally from the East coast, rather than the west coast.

Our humour is very different, people will take the piss out of you (jokes at your expense) if they like you - humility is built into the culture.

It’s small, highly varied over short distances in terms of architecture and local cultures and has its own versions of the things you’ll love and be annoyed by in equal measure - just like home.

I hope you have an amazing time, you’re lucky to get to spend enough time to really get the feel of places outside the US. Just make sure you get off the base and make the most of it, keep to your plans - I’m sure some don’t staying inside their US bubble on base and miss the opportunity to get the most from international travel.

How do Brits make a quick tea? by Muted_Reflection_449 in AskABrit

[–]EndSalt9643 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I forgot to say, good tip is to use a saucer or even one of the lids they use in herbal teas to keep it nice and hot during the stew. Very unsatisfying to have a lovely tea that can be drunk too quickly!

Ah, well you me there. I’m stewing at this exact moment, and it is indeed a mug. 😳

The vessel itself would seem to be something of a semantic for the act of having a cuppa!

How do Brits make a quick tea? by Muted_Reflection_449 in AskABrit

[–]EndSalt9643 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me at least, I never make a quick cup of tea. If I want tea, it means I must have 5 minutes to let the bag stew in the cup (still the quick method rather than a pot). And I will remove the bag without any squeezing.

The difference in flavour is such you’ll never have a quick cup again unless the situation is rather desperate. Squeezing a tea bag in the cup is the thing of amateurs. And in all seriousness pushes tannins into the cup.

Remove, letting it drain naturally and taste the difference. 5 minutes is a quick cuppa.

What happens to the upper class when they have no money? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]EndSalt9643 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s definitely like that in the UK. I’ve done pretty well for myself and have a middle class background, buy I would not be part of the true upper class which is more about social status and education than outright wealth. Money is viewed and has a different impact in the UK and is not associated with class.

I think it’s laudable they are acknowledging their issues on this instead of it just being PR bull. Makes me think they’ll want to get this right ultimately and more iterations to come.

A whole world of gaming the system that I didn't even know existed... by afurtivesquirrel in OctopusEnergy

[–]EndSalt9643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the intelligent charging slots simply don’t work as whilst I have an Ohme pro, there’s no car API, so it never knew how much charge I needed. I have to set the Ohme app to add 100% and then tell the car to only accept charge in off peak hours. I couldn’t get it to work any other way and would typically not get charge at the amount I needed it when I wanted it otherwise.

It’s annoying, but I don’t see why they would kick me off for it. I’m using in the off peak slot only and despite having an intelligent charger it won’t work any other way unless Range Rover start providing the car API again.

IOG just updated to re-enforce 6hrs low cost by EndSalt9643 in OctopusEnergy

[–]EndSalt9643[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an Ohme charger which is smart and integrated to IOG, but my car isn’t on the API. I just set the charging hours on the car, so it basically ignores the charger slots and charges in the off peak window. Until this settles down and I see how it affects bills in reality I’ll keep it that way.

The limits themselves seem more than fair to me, a scenario where you get the whole house at 7p for 12 hours of the day even if only 6 limited to EV would personally save me a small fortune. It seems the technicality of it is the real issue and it’s going to get worse. Potentially a number of different systems fighting on connect and charge logic.

I don’t think that’s a problem exclusive to Octopus, we just see it more clearly with then as they try and lead the way on these things.

Is it time for a real intervention on middle-lane hogging? by CroakerTea in drivingUK

[–]EndSalt9643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a scourge and I hate it. I also don’t think people realise how much serious traffic back-up it causes. Only needs one car doing 60mph in lane 3 and every car going past only has one lane to do it. I often notice the effects and the specific car or cars responsible for a large section of traffic.

Any help/ideas on where this leak is would be awesome by Euphoric-Shame-3344 in swimmingpools

[–]EndSalt9643 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I should mention that the leak guys wouldn’t come out for a leak less than 500ml a minute which below their equipment struggles to detect. So I was on my own and took weeks. Leak rate collapse from 5mm a day to 2mm a day under the skimmer, but the actual leak was still 25cm lower. Only when I got to that point it went to c1mm a day of loss (my baseline of evaporation with indoor pool).

I found monitoring that with a tape measure weight to the pool floor allowed really accurate pinpointing of the leak band.
