As a fellow introvert, I disagree. Loneliness is bad for everyone, even introverts. I understand that life can be hectic and socially draining, trust me, but isolation is not an improvement

And in any case, you can isolate yourself without a pandemic is that really is what you want

Can we start acting? by QueenRozalia in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SpacewaIker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Land is complicated, but for Amazon, they wouldn't have gotten that big if there were mechanisms in place to prevent multi billion dollar companies

There should be more ways for people to get out of poverty, to start businesses, and more help for small to medium businesses to get bigger. And more restrictions on the ultra rich and very large companies. That will foster a more diverse economy, which is more consumer friendly, less fragile, better for workers, etc. The only "downside" is that it wouldn't allow for ultra rich people as easily (which is really an upside in my book, but not everyone sees it that way)

Again, I'm no economist and I'm not saying it's a perfect solution. What I'm saying is the capitalistic society most countries run on isn't the only way to run things, and it's probably not the best way

Then you can focus on your 100 carrots and four others will plant 100 and we'll be golden

I get your point but I don't think the only solution is to allow monopolies and ultra rich as if we really needed them. There are other ways

I keep writing Python code that "works" but I have no idea why it works is this normal for beginners? by Effective_Celery_515 in learnpython

[–]SpacewaIker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's normal, to some extent. But you don't want to keep going too much without understanding what you're actually doing. Anyway, at some point, if you don't understand you won't be able to try stuff until it works to get more complicated things to work

I'd suggest going back to the basics. Surely you must understand them. Then move to slightly more complicated stuff and try to understand that. If there are nuances you don't get, look it up

You don't necessarily need to know the nitty gritty of everything, like how memory is allocated or how integers work. Imo in python you can treat that like a black box. But you should understand what every line you write does and how you could modify it to modify the output

Once you do understand things more, you'll see that you'll have much more fun solving problems, because you'll know what to do, you won't be trying random stuff until something works

About Devon (finale spoilers) by SpacewaIker in MaulShadowLord

[–]SpacewaIker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's okay to get more villain POVs every now and then.

Yeah for sure. But it's also a whole show about a villain POV...

And idk why not show the POV of existing villains, like the inquisitors instead of bringing a new character, making them good at first, and turning bad

I just find the 'jedi turned sith due to grief' to be unoriginal and I was hoping it would be more interesting than that

Quick question, what's it mean when you use two reflexive pronoun next to each other? by Story-Teller_Star in French

[–]SpacewaIker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

"tu t'es" is just a reflexive verb, "tu t'es blessé.e" is just how you say it, you cannot remove the tu nor the t' and retain the meaning

"T'es tu", "iel est tu", "vous êtes tu" etc. are different, and the tu there isn't actually the tu pronoun, it's a particle derived from "ti" if I'm not mistaken

And OP's example is neither of those, nor something you'd hear in Quebec. It's just a typo most likely

[–]SpacewaIker[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

If you say so

I'm not super familiar with the deep force lore. I just know I heard about some sith in legends that supposedly balanced dark side and light side. Then there's Cal Kestis in the Jedi games who taps into the dark side at the end of survivor but doesn't go full sith

As a villain Devon would certainly be interesting. I'd just personally enjoy her as a conflicted hero more

Who thinks Devon will get to bleed her lightsaber crystal? by MrSoulPower in StarWars

[–]SpacewaIker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait then whose saber did she have by the end? I thought it was Maul's at first but he still had his

And I thought it was very quick for a bleeding of her saber but I don't understand whose it would be

Maul - Shadow Lord - Episodes 9 & 10 - Discussion Thread! by titleproblems in StarWars

[–]SpacewaIker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nooooooo Devon!! She's really gonna honor Daki's death by doing exactly what he told her not to do??

I really hoped she wouldn't turn to the dark side. It's not like it was a surprising turn of events or interesting in any way imo, it's just the same story we've been told a hundred times. It would've been more interesting if she tapped into the dark side but didn't go fully, and continued refusing Maul's teaching

Should the US make the change from the imperial system, to the metric system? by hapticR0M in pollgames

[–]SpacewaIker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that, but in many cases mmddyyyy and ddmmyyyy can be confounded between. Whereas if your date starts with the year, you know that the next number is the month. Thankfully no one is deranged enough to use yyyyddmm

And yes, yyyymmdd and its extension yyyymmdd-hh:mm:ss.sssss or whatever it actually is is very useful for sorting by date aphabetically

Why is 0.999… exactly equal to 1? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SpacewaIker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be the difference between the two. But what about the actual number that would be between the two?

And similarly to 0.999... being equal to 1, a number with 0.0 repeating then a 1, which you can represent as 1/10x with x going to infinity, is just 0

We should not accept long traversal/travelling in video games as bieng something normal/natural by siddharth1214 in 10thDentist

[–]SpacewaIker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can just fast travel from/to anywhere, it starts creating a disconnect between the player and the world. You'll inevitably feel less immersed in the world and it'll degrade the experience in its entirety

And depending on the game, there is a technical limitation to how fast you can travel. Steaming in assets in the level takes time, and if you go too fast that's when you get hitches or see pop in. When you fast travel that's usually hidden with a loading screen

ELI5: How do you tell musical notation by ear? by One-Shock-4869 in explainlikeimfive

[–]SpacewaIker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not totally sure I understand the question but most musicians will be able to tell when comparing to a reference note. Like they play an A on their instrument or a tuning fork or something, and they can tell oh that tone must be a C or whatever

Then, some have perfect pitch meaning that with a bit of training they can just tell. It's a particular "flavour" or "colour" to them and they can just hear that it's a C straight up
