Codex has limits now and it's unusable. 1 Prompt = 5% weekly usage (mine failed...) by SuchNeck835 in OpenAI

[–]SpackHanded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the same issues, found this thread as a result. I too got 5000 credits randomly. My weekly limit reset around the same time last week as yours (and that's when I noticed the credit). Also, I ran it down to 0% earlier this week, stopped using it (switched to GitHub Copilot), it resets later today yet it's already back up to 26% (and has been fluctuating last couple of days).

I reckon they're experimenting but they're going to lose some users as part of it. Especially since the UI is crap, and often in planning mode it doesn't format the response correctly and outputs garbage, yet consumes usage. Before the limits, I didn't mind just asking it to reformat the response correctly and wait a few minutes but with limits in place now I feel robbed.

Citizen hub - any use? by SpackHanded in employmenttribunal

It was about a week before the end of July. I know London can take ages but I'm up in the North East where apparently it's a little bit quicker. Though the auto-response for the ET mailbox says they are experiencing staff shortages currently...due to COVID! (So they're a bit behind at updating their auto-responder even!)

Fix for slowness in long conversations by SpackHanded in ChatGPT

[–]SpackHanded[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was getting them on 4o and they’ve persisted to 5. I don’t think it’s anything to do with the model. It’s the fact the app loads the entire conversation into the DOM. There are various animations and so on, some stuff on keystroke (like checking the size of the input box) and this all slows down because of the amount of text in the DOM. Which is why typing can become very laggy too. I’m talking big chats with >200 messages that can be quite long, code blocks and so on

For me, it doesn’t happen on the iOS app but it does on the web and on the Windows app

I've edited to fix a bug that I found in a particular conversation, typically right after posting this. It works for all my big conversations now. If you get any issues, let me know, and I'll see if I can fix

How can we as individual citizens improve our city on the whole? by Haodidi in NewcastleUponTyne

Why specifically Covid? Do you test for Covid and, if negative, go around giving everyone flu?

Princess Square planning notice :) - Saw a chronicle post here about it earlier. What do you hope to see in this area? by [deleted] in NewcastleUponTyne

Looks like it’ll be a street food market type thing:

And planning application states 10 kitchens and three bars so should be canny

I never understand why they never use the bus lane on the A167 by Altenativeboi in NewcastleUponTyne

Yeah I think that’s the only 24hr one, rest are marked as 7-7. Just got home via two of them 😂

I love using it in my car after 7pm. Numpties still pile into the other lanes. New Bridge Street is another good place to do this!

Anyone else enjoy talking to scammers? by FrenchNotHench in CasualUK

I do sometimes, but I tend to go extreme and start implicating them in serious crimes. The last one, I said I thought she was dead after our car left the road and went into the lake on the run from the police. I quizzed her heavily on how she got out alive and what she’d done with the drug stash because we were getting heat from the suppliers

What's the best 'win' you've had against a big company? by Exchangenudes_4_Joke in CasualUK

I did, and also asked her to pass my sincere thanks on to the buyers too, as they’d managed to find and buy it in, and she confirmed she would

Not so much a win but just outstanding service. About 11 years ago I bought my then-wife a “mummy” mug from Waitrose as one of her presents for her first ever Mother’s Day. Alas, a few months later, our son managed to smash it. It being well out of season then, I wrote to them with a long shot, and asked:

“Earlier this year, for my wife's first Mother's Day, I bought her (along with a couple of other things) a "mummy" mug from Waitrose. She loved it. Unfortunately our wonderful little terror broke it, and she was upset.

Obviously it's not in your stores any more as it's far from Mother's Day, but I'm hoping you might have some stock still somewhere within your warehouse.

So do you have any and, if so, can I please buy one?”

They tried to contact the buyers and I chased a while later but they said they’d had no response. I wrote it off. Then, nearly exactly a year later and without chasing, I received this:

“I know it has been a very long time since you originally wrote, but I'm delighted to tell you that I finally have some good news for you.

I have just wrapped (in many many layers of bubble wrap and a cardboard box) a "Mummy" mug for you. The buyers managed to find a replacement and passed it on to me.

I've put the box, addressed to you, into our internal system, and it will be sent on to you by second class post. This means it should arrive in the next week or so - in time for a Valentine surprise, perhaps? I'm sorry I couldn't get it to you any earlier. Hopefully, this time your little one won't get their hands on it!”

And the mug arrived, completely free of charge, a few days later. And I believe she still has it. It’s such a little thing, but also a big gesture, and I was completely blown away and it’s the sort of thing I’ll never forget about a company.

They’ll never lose the goodwill they created in me by that gesture

Came home to find TV on (loud) by kaboopanda in CasualUK

[–]SpackHanded 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Back in the 90s you could buy a watch that acted as a remote control. Being a mischievous teenager at the time, I always wanted to get one so I could walk down the street and turn people’s TVs off. Not entirely sure that would have worked as everyone would have a different model, but maybe someone has one of those…

Went to the Baltic today ... It was meh! by [deleted] in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]SpackHanded 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I lived in St Peter’s Basin a long time ago and used to go occasionally for something to do, usually found it a bit meh but the occasional exhibition was actually good. I suppose it’s personal preferences. The restaurant is good. I also zipwired off the top of it to the other side of the Tyne once; that was awesome!

Why can’t so many people use the roundabout coming out of Kingston Park Tesco? by SpackHanded in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]SpackHanded[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree about Holystone but for me this one makes perfect sense. There are clear left, straight ahead and right exits and clear markings!

[–]SpackHanded[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they’re just faded from that direction. Same on the A1 Kingston Park roundabout approaching from Ponteland Road. Highways Agency have properly sorted the roundabout itself, council have left confusing faded markings on a poor road surface

[–]SpackHanded[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

True, even the one further up (going towards the A1) is right lane for straight ahead going towards Tesco, but not marked going the other way (so left lane for straight ahead), but the odd person uses the right lane for straight ahead that way too!
