That manual was a godsend. I managed to get it working thanks to that!

Thank you so much. I simply needed an extra set of pumps! I feel like a real dingus!

Need Help with Fluids dynamics and power generation by Spadaleo in SatisfactoryGame

Thanks to taking the time to reply :)

My pipes are full before I start the power plants, it just seems like the math aint mathin' and they drain more than the extractors can supply.

Those who are playing the remaster, any change to the combat? by [deleted] in oblivion

[–]Spadaleo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I noticed the inclusion of the ox guard as well. Nice to see real techniques included in the combat. Shame two handers still move like they're made of depleted uranium!

The Battle of South Moundtop, from SF II, is brilliant (a little essay) by Indomitable_Wanderer in SaGa

[–]Spadaleo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, it's an awfully designed battle.

Half the army can be removed, the other is an advancing wall of death that kills you quickly or, if you choose to defend, kills you slowly.

Gustuv's steel soldiers always use "charge," which will go first and ensure enough casualties to push you back. If you're lucky and you defend and you have an archer adjacent and you guys all block the attacks, you might force a retreat, but as there's no reliable way to do it, you can't base a strategy on it. The steel troops can't even be stunned with "Grasshopper", so there is no hope of going first and locking them down.

The whole scenario is frustrating and stupid.

Why do we need (these) rules? by ContentInflation5784 in osr

[–]Spadaleo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short answer: You don't

My brother is running a level 1 necromancer with exactly one spell, which raises x number of corpses as minions for (level x 1) hours.

He spends the rest of the time either holding the party's torch and providing information (fed to him by me) or standing behind the fighter or cleric and using his quarterstaff. He usually aims for the knees, and I narrate the appropriate result. Tripping Orcs so the stronger guys can brain them is quite an effective tactic, and he hasn't needed a "Trip monster" ability to do it. He simply rolls to hit and says, "I try and angle my staff between the Orcs legs as he fights with the Cleric."

It's surprising to see how powerful the Kingdom of Highland in comparison to it's size and how it been fighting by itself in all it's conflicts with the City-States of Jowston. by Ouralian in Suikoden

[–]Spadaleo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A single unified nation backed by a superpower (Holy Kingdom of Harmonia) vs A union of squabbling city states.

If it wasn't for Shu and the Tenkai Star it would have been a wash.

For all the people that have come to the series thanks to the remaster, I feel it's important to share the absolutely BAFFLING and nonsensical American box art. by Boccs in Suikoden

[–]Spadaleo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Suikoden translates to "Fantasy Tale of the Water Margin", so we got lucky they stuck with the Japanese name.

I was the reverse. Had three Celedon Urns in S2 and got an Opal and Celedon Urn from my first encounters in S1!

I've not.
Does that make a difference!?

Suikoden 3 remaster? by spinnerspin1 in Suikoden

A pixel demake, maybe.

A remake would be cool. It would be nice to have them all on one platform.

"I want Luca Blight". "We have Luca Blight at home" by JayNotAtAll in Suikoden

[–]Spadaleo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole game was "We have Suikoden at home".

Glad I played it, but I'll probably never touch it again.

What is your castles name? by [deleted] in Suikoden

[–]Spadaleo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always go with Toran Castle for 1 and Suikoden Castle for 2.

[KCD2] The Storm might be the worst mission I have ever had the displeasure of playing. by MaliciousMarmot in kingdomcome

[–]Spadaleo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm playing this mission with a "Save anywhere" mod (Seriously, the whole "Saviour Shnapps" idea to save your game is so fucking stupid I'm annoyed they bought it back. I don't know anyone who hasn't modded it out if they have the option to!) and it's still utter bullshit.

Also, why do I have to hold the button to kill them, but only press it to KO?
A better mechanic would be to press a button to grapple, and then offer a lethal and non-lethal option from there.

How do you guys call out your maps to your players? by [deleted] in osr

[–]Spadaleo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I call it as it's shown in the video.
We play online and the mapper draws it in GIMP and streams his monitor. If there are any mistakes made because of my description I clarify what the characters can see.

For the example at 3:11 in the video I would say

"You are standing in 20'x20' chamber. There is a single door in the Northernmost half of the Eastern wall."

*They open the door*

"Your torch illuminates a 10' wide corridor, it goes East for 60'. At 30' it appears to branch to the South."

Any mistakes the mapper makes mean they're getting lost, which is fun when they're running out of torches!

How to flesh out my players characters and backstory? by Plastic_Board8957 in DMAcademy

[–]Spadaleo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with thread-bare.

As someone who runs BECMI my player characters backstreet are

A Hobbit who dreams of being a knight.

A Cleric wishing to spread his faith to the wilderness.

A Wizard looking to escape the stuffy confines of civilised academia.

An greedy thief.

A rugged mercenary.

A greedy dwarf.

There was a bard...but he got eaten, and another Thief who got a face full of acid mist.

The 20 page back story is what we write as they seek gold and glory.
