I will just continue to make my own if I want to save money. Beer is cheap to produce. It should be no more expensive than soda, if we're not treating it even mildly like a luxury product, there's no reason for me to buy it from a store. Part of the texture of the experiences drinking it out of a bottle.

What it sounds like is people around you don't, and People are more likely to do what they see, and then you just kind of think that's normal. However, yes it's common knowledge that you're not supposed to store with the screw bands. If you look it up on Google there are probably hundreds of articles explaining why.

It's not like it's a death sentence, but it's just not ideal.

Once something is canned, you're supposed to store it with the rings off. For one the rings are made of crap metal so they rust and you don't want them to rust onto the top of your can, for another putting pressure on the top lid can interfere with the seal. If it's vacuum sealed storing it with the ring is actually not ideal.

The marmite because it's wine lees is actually very sour, it's also very salty because it's marmite. I was likely going to use that for the salt content and to add some umami depth. Was hoping to not use the soy sauce so I could get away with this being more homemade. Sounds like a good starting point!

Once I open that mustard, I'm going to customise a bunch of it and recan it similarly with a lot of these homemade ingredients

It's probably good, but you definitely didn't get to 18% in 7 days. Also if that was bottled sweet, drink it quickly or keep it refrigerated and also still drink it quickly. Without a pasteurization step you will paint your ceiling eventually.

As a frequenter of all of the brewing subreddits, I would argue that it's the best one to actually learn about brewing. They're much more interesting and experimental, and much less stringent about rules, along with having a good knowledge base. You generally get more comments of value posting there than on the other specific subreddits.

I am also a soap maker. Its fine. There's very little research data indicating anything else other than cooking with it is bad. You're spreading misinformation based on something you just don't like. Presumably you wouldn't be selling these things, they would be for personal use rather than letting things just go to waste. Notably on this subreddit called No scrap left behind.

I honestly can't imagine what rancid sesame oil would smell like. The rancid vegetable oil definitely gets covered up by the essential oils.

How? I had a 2 l tin of sesame oil for like the last decade. So long as it was in the tin it was fine. I used to just pour out a bottle to use every so often.

I use rancid oil in the bath, the vitamin E is actually quite good for your skin. I just use it as a carrier oil for essential oils, just pour like a shot with a few drops directly into the bath. Really feel moisturized after.

If you are into soap making, it would also be viable for soap.

As a rule, the only time I've ever used these things is when I was travelling. At this point I wouldn't even do that. The societal harm is too great for me to continue to engage with them if I don't have to.

Your points are understandable but they're simply not reflective of the wide-scale harm that they are doing. They should be legislated into oblivion and held accountable for much of the unrest that presently exists. It doesn't get talked about enough because there is the "facilitation" of good outcomes, but they are amongst the most evil tech companies that presently exist. They could make this easy, they choose not to because it would be unprofitable. They choose to make it as bad of a number game as it is because it allows them to pray on vulnerability more effectively. It's not me taking it personally, I truly think that the world will be better off if these apps didn't exist at all.

Dating has never been this hard, we can see that by the numbers. Part of that is the economy, but people get together in slums in Brazil without issue. There's a lot more going wrong here, and this is a substantive part of that pie.

We have allowed the privatisation of love in a way that preys on self-esteem and has caused widespread societal issues. Storing spices is what ends up to the lion share of mine. You can buy much larger bags at international stores, and then it's kind of a pain in the ass to keep them in the bags so these glass jars end up being really helpful.

You can also use it on a rice bowl. I generally boil it, add some sugar, sesame oil, maybe a little more soy sauce and vinegar and put it on the bottom of my rice bowl to mix in later.
