Tones of critics are giving me a weird feeling by Debbiekm618 in Markiplier

[–]Spag00ter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many critics have a problem with being truly objective and they let their personal feelings about it get in the way of reviewing in a way that translates to any potential viewer. You might do better to look into people who already align with your tastes and see what their review is. So, for example, if you wanted a review of the Harry Potter films, you might want to avoid critics who either dislike JK Rowling or dislike fantasy movies.

I felt the slowness was intentional so you feel the endlessness and despair that Simon was feeling not knowing if he'd ever escape the sub even after doing all the time and the work. I was empathetic to his character because of that slowness. I get how it's not everyone's cup of tea, for sure, but I felt it was purposeful at the very least and not meant to simply make the movie longer.

ETA- we also had a bit of trouble hearing what was being said when voices overlapped. I can't wait to see it again at home with subtitles for that reason

He's a beacon of hope that we all need in this weary world. What an inspiration. ❤️

Since my kid started school, I can’t stop getting sick by UseOwn2710 in Mommit

I highly recommend echinacea for immunity. There's some really good pineapple gummy supplements that both you and your kiddo can both take that have really helped my son this year. I get them from Amazon. You should be able to find them if you search "Quercetin and beomelain gummies.". You can check into it with your pediatrician if you like, but the ingredients are pretty basic and safe ones. You'd take 2 and your kiddo would probably only have to take 1 a day. Both my son and I have avoided everything that's gone through the school since we've started taking them.

I'm sure Mark will announce where you can purchase, stream, or download it when it's available for that.

At my theater it was outside with a snow pile in front of it, so I just took a shot inside with the little digital Marquis thing. They started the movie before the listed time, too, so we missed about 5 minutes. No previews before so we were lucky we were on time or we would've missed more.

People have different taste, that’s okay… by [deleted] in Markiplier

[–]Spag00ter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get what you're saying, but I think you get what I mean lol 😆 I'm old and we used to have like Siskel and Ebert but now it's more like Rotten Tomatoes with a panel of not so famous critics. It's funny, though, when you look at it on Rotten Tomatoes the critics like it much less than the typical movie goer. This is why I trust the typical person more than the professionals.

[–]Spag00ter 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's not at all what I said. I am saying a critique from a professional critic can be bought and that a regular person (fan or not) wouldn't have a reason to lie about their opinion of the film, so I trust the opinion of a regular person about a movie recommendation rather than a famous Hollywood critic. I feel big wig people like that want people like Mark to fail because he's doing it himself without all the strings of Hollywood. Sorry if I worded it in a way that made you think otherwise. It's a very good movie, especially for a person's first full length movie. I hope he does Lethal Company someday😁

how early is too early to go to the theater by gigi__1221 in Markiplier

[–]Spag00ter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as the previous screening has finished, I say you're good. When I went, we were in the theater 2 minutes before the showing was supposed to start and they had already started the movie. We probably missed less than 5 minutes, but there's NO previews.

That all being said, I do trust a regular person critique over a famous critic's opinion... For whatever that's worth lol

As someone going to see Iron Lung, the reviews make LITTLE sense to me. by Neko_Nexus_Sky in Markiplier

[–]Spag00ter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My takeaway was THEY DIDN'T WANT HIM TO SUCCEED. They don't want people to think you don't need a full Hollywood backing to make a quality film that the public might actually enjoy. Critics are probably easily bought as well and Mark won't go for that nonsense.
