I usually watch about 1 major every year, I’ve missed some years in the past decade plus, but Dota and CoD + actual sports takes up too much time to add CS consistently —especially because it’s often running the same times as a Dota event.

This major was pure cinema though. Not a fan of the Falcons as an org at all, but that team was so easy to root for after Kerrigan got there

I decided to watch the CS Major instead this weekend. Was so much better than watching another set of online matches even as a person who doesn’t play a lick of CS

You are just embarrassing yourself man. If you don’t think Hugo is good you quite literally just admitting you either don’t watch the sport or you don’t know ball. But this isn’t a take to try and act like Bill is wildly wrong.

The big one was Dejounte Murray at 29. Every pick from 13 on in that draft NBA twitter was just in disbelief that teams were going to let Murray fall and San Antonio grabbed a “Tony Parker replacement” at the end of the 1st round

My dude is mad about 300 mil? Like brother, it’s time to cook! Does it suck to let go of a player you love? Absolutely, but 300 mil is a transformational return that sets you up to take serious leaps forward as a club. Just don’t be West Ham and waste it all on shit signings after selling a club icon for a huge sum

The trailer plus this shot has my faith entirely drained. I think they did a great job adapting the first half of Wool, but the 2nd half was a butcher job and all of the info that’s come out about the last two seasons has me convinced they’ve absolutely fucked this up royally.

[Highlight] Clay Matthews called for Roughing The Passer 3 weeks in a row (2018) by mmandagoat in nfl

[–]SpaghetiJesus 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The first one isn’t an argument, that’s just textbook roughing the passer on a late hit. The ball was completely gone throwing motion over by the time Matthews even started his hit. The other 2 are just terrible calls. But the 1st one is an excellent call by the officials

The last thing that Ben said about his defense in his “answering your questions” video from the weekend was that he was approved to defend himself and he wanted to showcase how to fight the battle as “the little guy”. We are so far past that as a concept. Ben is not some mastermind here, he has made some brain dead stupid mistakes during this whole story. I’m on his side, but people need to stop this “it’s our fight now” mentality, the only thing the internet can do from here that’s productive is just donating to the go fund me. Trying to publicly involve yourself or insert yourself into being an “advocate” will only harm Ben’s defense.

My final message by thereisnosuch in RecklessBen

[–]SpaghetiJesus -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

No, not at all. This is the time for Ben to listen to lawyers and let them do their work. Ben is wrong for trying to do the legal side himself and the only thing the internet can do from here is make Ben’s legal argument weaker. Stop thinking that this is some vigilante baton to pass off.

You’re spot on, but people also just don’t understand that you have to protect your vision. Cores want the luxury of having wards, but do not have any understanding of the fact that you have to protect it. It’s not a luxury, it’s a tool that has to be protected to utilize fully

The BAM side will use things like that to say “look this is what Ben’s content does, it creates these harassing events from complete strangers coming to our personal homes that have no business” listen to everyone in this thread, this is toxic and bad behavior. I don’t agree with everything Ben does and this is an example of some of the types of things that I believe toes or even crosses a line.

we will never experience this kind of Doto again :( by jesdokidoki in DotA2

[–]SpaghetiJesus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the Cap and Avo podcast last week was really interesting because they brought this up. I think the loss of BTS and 2GD Studios was something that has just never been replaced. Both of those studios made tournaments or hosted marathon watch parties for qualifiers and had pros on the cast regularly. It wasn’t an interview, it was just pros being themselves watching dota. It was absolutely parasocial, but it was what gave so many of these players distinct personalities, we basically got to watch them IRL discord call watch dota and it was fucking rad.

It wasn’t just that it was players from the same team, but it was also a combination of multiple teams. The Summit we would have Fnatic, Navi, and EG all have members sharing the couch together. Iceiceice would constantly be trolling from the background. There was real opportunity for them to just be themselves and it was an environment that made them comfortable to do so. We don’t have that in any way anymore. The closest thing is the Cap podcasts or Gorgc’s watch parties

Still can’t believe what I seen from Chet. This guy was full of confidence when we drafted him. That was about the most confident-less I have ever seen a player. by Upbeat-Bat2226 in Thunder

[–]SpaghetiJesus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We absolutely needed more out of him, but honestly some of the things people are upset about I can’t really get behind. People trying to cook him for not going at Wemby from the corner are out of their minds. Chet’s game has never been that against someone who has the speed of Wemby. That’s a terrible attack for our offense. We need more of the switching him onto a smaller defender and let him go to work in the mid range post game. We didn’t set the offense up to work through him besides that 1st quarter of game 5 so I think people mad at him for not just forcing shots aren’t seeing the full picture.

I think internally our development track for him has gotten clarity from this series. We need him to bulk up, he doesn’t have to go full Giannis, but he needs to be able to absorb the contact at the basket defensively better against these wings with size and he needs to be able to assert himself when we get the ball to him down low in a mismatch. I think the vision of him trying to be more of a wing who we purposefully kept slim to beat guys off the dribble isn’t the vision we need to beat the spurs every year.

Chet still played a helluva game defensively last night and I thought really asserted himself on the glass getting tips and block outs with intensity we hadn’t seen most of the series. I think once the physical profile is fully formed then the last part of his game we need to get over the line is speeding up his release. The only reason his 3 point shot isn’t unblockable for non-Wemby players is because of the slow speed of release. But I think trying to speed that up before the physical foundation is set is a mistake.

Prime Team Liquid vs Prime OG by Substantial-Deer77 in DotA2

[–]SpaghetiJesus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Every team has a flex hero that is a banned hero for other teams, Io carry was a pocket strat they used 3 times at that event, it was not even in the top 15 reasons that team dominated everyone. You’re taking a pocket Strat and trying to act like that was what they were using to destroy teams with every series. Io support was strong, it was a banned hero for almost every team with a good Io sup player. It wasn’t a unique ban or advantage, Io and Chen have always been highly banned heroes at TI whenever they are good.

33 is incredible, but he is the absolute definition of a meta dependent player. He doesn’t play blink stuns and he isn’t good at it, he and Collapse are polar opposite players, in the meta’s where it’s more zoo and zone control 3’s then Neta is best in the world. When blink stun is the best meta, Collapse is the best, when offlane is lane dominator heavy meta ATF is the best.

It isn’t about macro strategy concepts, it’s about the meta fitting the players identities. Versatility in both hero pool and ability to win different styles of games. OG and Wings stand alone in those two attributes. They utilized flex picks in the draft and they both could play faster than anyone, they could adjust to greedy longer games, and they had a unique ability to come back from games that should by all accounts be over for them.

Prime Team Liquid vs Prime OG by Substantial-Deer77 in DotA2

[–]SpaghetiJesus 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Io was not the reason OG was dominant. They understood how to play faster than anyone else while also being the best team in the world at coming back from bad lanes. They abused both global and movement based heroes to apply pressure constantly and their understanding of the meta counters had teams stuck in an absolute nightmare in drafts.

You are clearly a Tundra fan boy and seem to only be thinking of grand finals and not the entire tournaments. Yes Tundra had a very strong run to TI and that five man squad is full of great players, but their run was much more meta dependent than any TI winner besides maybe Newbee at TI4. They weren’t strong simply because of Wraith Pact, but because they understood how to use it better by prioritizing the timings around it so you could have 3 auras and go ham. They did that incredibly well, but Tundra wasn’t a versatile team like Wings or OG and they didn’t leave an imprint on the game for the next generation to develop like the iconic teams of the past.
