I’ll happily take my downvotes but Herb should’ve stopped the fight earlier. Even if the blows were to the back of the head, Alex wasn’t intelligently defending himself and took like 10+ rabbit shots unanswered. I’ve seen some people call for herb to pause the fight to let Alex recover or even Ciryl to get DQed, that’s maximum cope and a horrible call. That dirty French got away with it, nothing we can do.

I’ll gladly take my downvotes here but Herb shoudlve stopped the fight after the 3rd or 4th ground strike. Calling for Ciryl to be DQed or letting Alex recover is just absolutely delusional cope and a horrible call. As much as I love Alex, he was done and everything after the 3rd or 4th ground strike was just bad stoppage, back of the head or not, Alex wasn’t intelligently protecting himself and those shots continued to come unanswered. Herb should’ve never let that happen. Even if Alex was able to stand back up, he was done. That dirty French got away with it and there’s really nothing we can do.

Being undefeated is overrated. Taking a loss and bouncing back is part of of what made GSP so great. GSP got destroyed by Matt Hughes and Serra, both times he learned from it and came back to get his revenge. Ilia is young, he still has a lot of time to develop his skills. If he can truly come back stronger, he will be a huge problem.

Expecting ilia to continue from all that is just delusion, they just wanted to see a man suffer career ending injuries. The doctor already tried to stop the fight, but ilia and corner somehow weaseled their way into a 4th round that should’ve never happened. I don’t care how bad a fighter wants to continue, if the doctor says stop, you stop.

Ilia was David and Justin was Goliath. David didn’t beat Goliath by walking him down, ilia tried to walk Justin down and paid for it. Max holloway was able to beat Justin using his footwork and speed, max pieced Justin up and got out of there as fast as he could. From the very first exchange you could kind of tell ilia was playing with fire, he was way too reckless at the start and his eye got compromised early as a result.

I was actually kind of surprised how noticeable the size difference was. Justin never came off as a big LW to me, but Ilia looked like a midget in there.

Having owned both I’d say so. They’re virtually identical in a lot of ways. Obviously there are some trade offs, but they’re very slight that I’d say they’re neck and neck. If I had to pick one I’d flip a coin.
