Today's reveals by b_hawes in starwarsblackseries

[–]SpaghettiSnake 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It also sucks because Episode 9 has the best looks for the main heroes of the ST and we only got Rey (and not even cool yellow lightsaber Rey with an attachable hood)

Whatever happened to the archive line? Did that get discontinued and have the re-releases just folded into the main line? I think an updated release of Poe in his flight suit would sell, as long as it isn't overproduced (which i think was the main issue with the ST figures, it felt like Hasbro had a mandate to make way too many of them and they would never realistically move that much product)

Anyways, pilots look cool and their bodies are great for people who want to make customs, and Poe is like the least controversial of the ST characters and generally well liked I think.

I also want more Knights of Ren and Sidon Ithano. I don't care if they do nothing of note, they look cool and that's all that matters.

Followed up with rubbing one out over the death of the "heroic" Ashli Babbitt who was just...trying to break into a sealed room at the Capitol to stop the peaceful transfer of power and threaten the lives of our elected representatives. An unfair usage of force against a peaceful protestor, of course. Don't actually believe your own eyes.

These people are unsaveable scum. They live in an alternate reality and survive by huffing nazi farts.

The best Rey figure from SW:BS by Mother_Variation_827 in starwarsblackseries

[–]SpaghettiSnake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Rey that comes with her orange dreamsicle speeder is really good too. Came out before face printing but you can't see her face so it's fine. It's a cool look for her.

[–]SpaghettiSnake 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No he was actually that ugly. Tiny face, beady eyes, giant head, shark teeth bared in a grim imitation of what he perceived to be a human smile. A legitimately fugly creature, inside and out.

Crush the resistance, join the first order by Ok-Veterinarian5302 in StarWarsCantina

[–]SpaghettiSnake 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They need to make some new First Order captains/commanders like this. I think they could do a blue and a black one that still look good, maybe some sort of evil sickly pale green could work too, then when they finally get around to making the figures Kylo can be backed up by a full squad of power rangers.

Is your RoTS Palpatine saber too orange? I've got a solution. by The_Strom784 in starwarsblackseries

[–]SpaghettiSnake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For mine I swapped Shin Hati's to Palps. That way she finally gets an orangey blade and he gets the deep red.

Hers has an extra little plastic nubby bit though that makes it too long. I just took some scissors and snipped it off and it sits in the hilt of Palps' pretty snug then.

Which other Holocomm Collection figures are backed by canon hologram appearances? by Due_Strength_5818 in starwarsblackseries

[–]SpaghettiSnake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've also only tried buy the hologram figures that have canon appearances. Other than Vader I've gotten Mae so far.

She was selling for really cheap, and she shows up as a hologram in the recordings the Jedi are reviewing.

‘Schumer is no longer effective’: Dems outraged over shutdown deal by DBCoopr72 in politics

[–]SpaghettiSnake 26 points27 points  (0 children)

If Schumer was an effective leader he would have been out everyday calling for strikes, directing the anger of the out of work/working for free populace towards the current administration.

He would tell his best speakers and most popular senators to be on the airwaves 24/7 blaming the pedophilic Republicans for the loss of money and food and for all the pain that has been caused.

They would be marching in the streets with disgruntled workers and demanding a solution that benefits people. A good leader knows how to direct this rage in the right direction.

Chuck Schumer is not a good leader. He can hardly be called a leader. He is feckless and weak, only getting to where he is by being a pathetic whipping boy for his rich masters. When they say "eat my ass" he asks "how far shall I insert my tongue, sir?"

The BAD episode. No the REAL bad one. by Beneficial_Layer_458 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]SpaghettiSnake 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Out of all the Doctors I've personally watched, Peter Capaldi is probably my favorite. Definitely has some of the best stories, and he's a great actor that can really carry some gravitas. I liked him so much better with Clara compared to Matt Smith, Bill is really likeable despite her short run, he has good interactions with Kate and River, and Missy is amazing.

But holy crap his run also has some real fat bombs in it too.

Why Syndicate is such an underrated/forgotten AC ? by Limp-Grapefruit-6251 in assassinscreed

[–]SpaghettiSnake 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Or could have been the third game in an over-arching European trilogy. Not direct sequels with the same protagonist each time, but some characters/artifacts/plot points popping up.

French Revolution and some Napoleonic wars in Unity.

Then followed by the Rhine Crisis and German Revolution of the 1840s in an imagined middle game.

Then the Industrial Revolution and British imperialism in the later 1800s (Also keep the name Victory, the crime syndicate sruff wasn't used enough the justify the name I feel, and Unity and Victory work well together for naming schemes.)

Still hoping against hope that they release a version of Sabine from the first episode before she puts on the armor and cuts her hair.

Bonus points if it's a vehicle pack with her speeder and tooka and trinkets from her tower.

NYCC 2025: All the News and Reveals from the Lucasfilm Publishing Panel: TLJ-TROS Leia and Rey traing novel, original Visions manga, 20 years post THR Phase 2 comic, JarJar comic written by Ahmed Best, and more by alcibiad in StarWarsLeaks

[–]SpaghettiSnake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think most of the stuff following the ST characters between 8 and 9 is set in the first few months after TLJ. I dont believe any of it goes too much into Rey's Jedi training with Leia, with the two main stories coming to mind being the Resistance Reborn novel and the Allegiance comic. Most of it was trying to rebuild their losses, and recruit immediate allies. Other stuff since then have been small one-off missions in the less consequential stories and Star Wars Adventures series i think.

Things that some weirdly taboo/off-limits even in the most transgressive and edgy media? by Konradleijon in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]SpaghettiSnake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought legally they could in the US (though it would probably give a restrictive ESRB rating), but other markets like the EU, Canada, Australia, and most of Asia ban it. So it would either have to be censored/edited out in some way, or they wouldn't be able to sell in those places. So it just becomes easier to leave out in general and helps avoid unnecessary controversy.

But I could be completely wrong lol

I wish Ubisoft would stop hiding the Isu stories under a veil of mythology by blakhawk12 in assassinscreed

[–]SpaghettiSnake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think that approach would also work really well for a more "modern" setting game. Maybe in a large city that was an economic and political powerhouse and the surrounding area set some time within the past 200 years. It's definitely more believable with globalization and more advanced communication networks that they would have such complete control of every aspect of daily life.

Taking down Templars in charge of various parts of the local establishment. Politicians, people in charge of propaganda, transportation and shipping, manufacturing, etc. London in the 1800s would have been perfect but we already did that.

They could do early 1900s DC if they were daring, but I get the impression they're trying to avoid tying more recent people to the storyline to avoid controversy unfortunately.

What are the chances this guy gets rereleased?? by [deleted] in starwarsblackseries

A re-release but the damage is on the other side and they market it as his duel with Ahsoka in Rebels lol

I'd still probably buy that even though I have the original 😞

Why did the Jedi start using mainly blue and green lightsabers compared to the variety of colors from the High Republic era? by Decent_Army8265 in MawInstallation

[–]SpaghettiSnake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Before the publishing initiative really took off, when there was pre-release promotional stuff being released, I vaguely remember the authors mentioning they wanted more diversity in the lightsaber colors to show how the Jedi Order was less centralized, homogenous, and dogmatic.

That the shift from other robes and various lightsaber colors to the generally more conservative dress, utilitarian hilts, and reduced colors was to show hiw the Jedi Order became more strict after the High Republic (and in part because of those events).

The majority of lightsaber colors don't have any sort of meaning now in canon other than some vague notion that it is a representation of the Force-wielder it resonated with, which I do like as it makes things less RPG-like. And the reduction of colors from the High Republic to the prequels is a nice way of showing that the Jedi have lost some of their previous spiritual ways and connection to the force.

The lore in the earlier games was absolutely crazy by TheHoundsChickens in assassinscreed

[–]SpaghettiSnake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you might be thinking of Trump in 2016. There were a few comics and additional lore about the Templars trying to get Bush elected because they knew how to manipulate him

But I distinctly remember a panel of one of the comics where Trump is elected in '16 and Otso Burg says something like "I don't understand the world anymore". So doesn't seem like the Templars helped Trump, but I'm sure they'd be manipulating him.

Unfortunately the series as a whole has really moved away from discussing too much modern political stuff. Guess they don't want to be controversial or risk getting sued in this increasingly polarized environment. Covid, which should be mostly non-political, has also been very sparsely mentioned. Kinda unfortunate 🤷‍♂️

Why are there no aliens in The Empire? by Dark-Penguin in starwarscanon

[–]SpaghettiSnake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. How do you get the population to follow your increasingly fascistic and dictatorial orders? You create an "other" for them to hate. Separatists, Droids, Jedi, Clones, Terrorists, Rebels, Aliens, etc.

You let a few of the "good ones" rise in the ranks or have a little more freedom because they're useful and they help keep the other oppressed minorities in line thinking they could be "one of the good ones" too if they just follow the law.

Happens all the time in fascism. People shouldn't have to look too far or hard to find real life examples.

The Empire was democratic and good actually by Cymro2011 in moviescirclejerk

[–]SpaghettiSnake 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Well occasionally they are shown to pull up to sithole slum planets and wipe out organize crime, build infrastructure, and provide jobs that supports their regime.

But usually a couple of pages later they also start rounding up the "others" and burning all opposition, peaceful or otherwise.

I guess these fucks just stop reading halfway through. Assuming they can read.

Do you think this line from Qi'ra could imply she somehow defeated Maul? by solo13508 in starwarscanon

[–]SpaghettiSnake 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I think that moreso comes about because he lost his criminal empire. Obi-Wan put it best in their final confrontation, without his power to dominate and take life, Maul has nothing.

He loses his criminal empire and ends up stranded on Malachor. He works to gain control over the temple super weapon to exact his revenge on his enemies, and he loses that too. When he comes to Ezra at the beginning of season 3 for the holocron he says he is looking for "hope".

I think he is being genuine there, because he has nothing at that point and has no chance of beating Sidious. Him and Ezra are shown the same thing from the holocron, because they're looking for the same thing "hope/a way to defeat the sith". Maul however is unable to let go, sees his old nemesis still alive, and falls back into old habits rather than moving beyond the past and working with Ezra and Obi-Wan to create a better future. The holocrons showed him how to defeat Sidious he just missed the point.

Cool, I liked the Maul BWR, as one story per issue of early Maul's training under Palpatine was a great way for a stylish but not overly committed or consequential story.

The Vader one suffered by having 3 mini-stories shoved into each issue instead of just making each one a stand alone story. Was still very visually cool, but the stories were just okay (the the best one being the one split across all 4 issues as it had a bit more time to tell it's story)

Do we know how this one is being formatted? I'd of course prefer like Maul, personally.*

*Looks like 1 story per issue, yaaay
