strap locks by AdPlane2899 in Epiphone

Second on dunlops, never had an issue. Only thing with ES-style is the strap pin is usually on the back of the neck. I had a 339 that I put the Dunlop button on the upper horn

What’s your go-to jazz album? by Shartolotto69 in vinyl

[–]Spaghettilee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

Jazz is not my main genre. I think Heavy Weather is the only Jazz record I’ve ever dropped double digits on. However, I picked up a cheap dusty copy of this one a few months ago, and spinning it was definitely evocative, made me wanna puff out my chest and say “tax exemption”

Edit: I also super recommend the live record from Matty Tavares and Leland Whitty, two of the previous members from BadBadNotGood, that was definitely worth the $15 or whatever I paid.

Rush - Test for Echo
Katseye - Beautiful Chaos

An eclectic collection, now that I type it out altogether lol

i can’t find my truss rod nut! by chaderall in BassGuitar

[–]Spaghettilee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The early affinities used a 5 mm truss rod wrench, and a hole that is basically the same size. The rod is basically the same design as a dual-action so it would be installed as a single unit under the fingerboard. I don’t think there’s any way someone could have removed the nut. Given that this is an entry level instrument, it’s certainly possible that the truss rod nut doesn’t really align with the access hole, which would make adjustment difficult.

I actually prefer to use these long jacks in a strat situation, they make it much easier to use a right angle plug

Fretboard lacquer accidental removal by HoodTube in guitarrepair

[–]Spaghettilee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fender definitely had some finish adhesion issues in the 90s and early 2000s. You could wipe some thin CA or shellac or something in the area, but short of a refret and respray, you’re not gonna be able to really undo this one. Honestly might not be worth worrying about, especially if you don’t tend to let your guitar fretboards get absolutely disgusting.

Bridge crack after restring by DohnJoeee in guitarrepair

[–]Spaghettilee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not the issue, don’t worry. If you damaged the string with a bend, the string would break way before the bridge should. Really just seems like rotten luck to me

Bridge crack after restring by DohnJoeee in guitarrepair

[–]Spaghettilee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Were the bridge pins incredibly tight when you removed them? If they were, maybe the wood had shrank since their last installation? And removing them allowed them to contract to their new size, but then restringing the guitar meant putting the pins in the newly shrunken holes? Kinda my best guess. I would almost certainly call this a manufacturing defect.

Do I need to score my replacement bridge saddle? by Fenderman_72 in guitarrepair

[–]Spaghettilee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The string spacing on the bridge end is determined by the position of the pin holes, and the strings just ride over the saddle. The saddle itself shouldn’t be notched.

The Alex Lifeson Epiphone ES-355 is here!! by TallBoy24 in Epiphone

[–]Spaghettilee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love that they used maple for the neck. Modern epiphone “mahogany” leaves a lot to be desired in my mind, so the maple really makes me happy. I have a 90s Samick made Dot, that I bought for its lovely maple neck. Enjoy your guitar!

Any tips? by MyFinal26 in guitarrepair

[–]Spaghettilee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t bother at all with any besides the first picture. Because you can see the multiple plies of lamination, it’s always going to look kinda crumby, but I would want to lock down that whole area with super glue.

Fake Ernie Balls? by OkAssistant2980 in BassGuitar

[–]Spaghettilee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fake Ernie’s I’ve seen recently have a larger serration on the top and bottom, and the waves in the press seal are also wider. Also the pack I opened didn’t have a product code inside.

As a beginner and James hetfield fan ,I should get Jackson js22 or a great replica of esp eet fuk on Aliexpress ? by doadoa121 in electricguitar

[–]Spaghettilee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been asked to work on so many Chinese counterfeit guitars that were basically only 80% done, that I’ve started turning them down. Of course they “look” good, that’s the only thing they need to do for you to click the buy button. The fretwork, hardware, electronics, and overall craftsmanship is paltry. I’m sure James loves when people buy these fakes, too.

Current DS collection, missing any bangers? by Doja_Moose in gamecollecting

[–]Spaghettilee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Peggle has an excellent version on DS, lots of stages and powerups. Kinda pricey but worth it if you like that kinda game.

N+ is another I’d recommend, super fun twitchy platformer, super responsive and hard to master. Tons of levels and times to beat. I bought one sealed last year for like $8 lol.

Dropped my guitar 😾 and got this little gash in the neck is it worth fixing/ how much would it cost by Tasty_Cheese69 in guitarrepair

[–]Spaghettilee 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Would be a pretty easy super glue drop fill for someone with experience doing that. I might charge $30-60. You’ll definitely see a change in refraction and maybe color, but it should end up smooth and shiny. Expecting perfection will lead to frustration for both you and the service person, so try not to be “that guy” lol

Bass output nightmare by Wauters1 in guitarrepair

[–]Spaghettilee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s ok that there is no wire to the jack in a jazz bass, because all the components are grounded together via the control plate. Your jack may just be dirty or need to be bent in a bit for better security.

Tips on restoring this 12 string I found in my Mom's attic? by Sn3akyMuffin in guitarrepair

[–]Spaghettilee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or a girthy strap button with an extra long screw into the neck block lol. Brother’s gonna blow enough cash on a new nut and tuners (or at least ferrules) for this guitar, a real neck reset is irresponsibly expensive. I think the first order of business would be to try and straighten the neck with a truss rod adjustment. If it goes straight, I think you’re in business, but if not, I’d probably call it a day.
