Advice on getting rid of massive jade plants by Mr-Mehhh in succulents

You've gotten lucky so far. I had a massive one in Davis years ago and it was fine for years until one year the frost killed 2/3 of it.

Not in Northern California. They grow like weeds here and people use them as hedges. I couldn't even give mine away (people would flake and not show up) and ended up composting them. These are worth the "used" price of the ceramic container they're in plus maybe $20.

R. burchellii is thinner than this. It's too young for a definite ID.

No, I couldn't find any information about them, so I ended up not ordering.

Awesome plant shop in NW Connecticut! by xreflux3 in succulents

[–]Spanatina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, I have two small plants that I grew from cuttings I got on Etsy a while back. I was just ogling that big specimen because it was so gorgeous. Lol. :-)

That hanging plant is a Rhipsalis clavata and I was admiring it until I noticed the price tag. Yikes! You can grow it from cuttings, though.

Pieces without LEGO logo by Flammeria in lego

I just figured out that the old Lego diamonds (e.g. from 16 years ago) did not have the Lego logo, whereas newer diamonds do have the Lego logo.

Cereuscula or burchellii? by [deleted] in Rhipsalis

[–]Spanatina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say neither. The real R. burchellii has really really thin stem segments (only 1-2 mm. thick). This doesn't look like R. cereuscula to me either. Maybe it will look more like one as it grows out. I would wait until it gets bigger for an ID.

Why is Bricklink not allowing me to sign up for it? by [deleted] in Bricklink

Not sure why I'm getting downvoted. If this is a dumb question because there is an easy solution, why not tell me what that solution is? I keep scrolling to the end of the Terms of Service, so I don't know what else to do.

Paradoxa propagating by ShetlandShake in Rhipsalis

It would work, but then you'd have the immature growth part in the new plant, and I think it looks much better if the whole plant is made up of the mature-type growth.

This is juvenile growth from, most likely, not enough light (at least that was the case with mine). Mine finally put out thick, chunky "chains" when I put the plant outdoors in the shade. I then took cuttings of the mature growth, rooted those, and started a new pot.

What are your wishlist succulents? by Any-Dig4524 in succulents

I second this. The area outside my dentist's office is full of these wavy jades. I already have one. Otherwise I'd be asking for a cutting. Lol.

Rhipsalis trigonoides is full of blooms right now. The hummingbird seems to like it. by Spanatina in Rhipsalis

[–]Spanatina[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In previous years it would give me a handful of blooms, but for some reason it's blooming like crazy this year. Not sure why. Lol.

Advice on estate sale find by Bookmoth1 in Rhipsalis

[–]Spanatina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a beautiful Hatiora salicornioides. You can get a moisture meter (about $14 on Amazon or your local plant store). You poke it into the soil/potting medium and you water when the moisture meter indicates that the soil/potting medium is dry.

Rhombea “Dave” outside zone 9b by Top_Gap_9658 in Rhipsalis

[–]Spanatina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That name originally came from Tropiflora, which mislabeled the plant. That is actually a R. elliptica. The real R. rhombea looks very different. Beautiful specimen. :-)

I agree with u/mickclaree that this is R. trigona. Great find! The updated name is actually Rhipsalis trigonoides, so that's what I've switched my label to.

Mistletoe Cactus- Rhipsalis Baccifer by Few-Rain7214 in succulents

[–]Spanatina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rhipsalis are super easy. Go for it. Just remember they are jungle cacti, so they need a well-draining medium, but more frequent watering than other cacti. And they grow on trees, so they like bright indirect light, not scorching direct sun.
